gimmicks?
Arterial pulse wave analysis derived cardiac indices with new monitors and flash bang graphics...nursing 'leadership' pyramid pushing for this in the ICU's. The CT surgeons will be the ones suffering with the phone calls about SVV. I don't really care one way or the other because it's just another transducer to me and echo is right at hand. My bias is to not die on that hill because, in the end, it just doesn't matter. Peers have a different POV. Really like talking to a wall when talking to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How worthless has Neurology become?
At my local community hospital, they've converted to a Tele-Neurology service. A nurse comes in, looks at the patient, does a quick exam, the Neurologist is on an ipad or something. They recommend ASA/Stain, and then sign off. I mean, come on. Can we please just accept that Neurology, as a clinical service, is essentially useless? Can we stop the charade? GAP year
I have c and s 3.0 gpa (bio major with like 2 minors) as a senior who's going to graduate a semester late with a 525. So that is already a gap year. there is no trend whatsoever, i would get a 4.0 one semester and 2.3 the next. irrelevant to whether the classes were hard (would get an A in orgo while a c in music...). My GPA will be around a 3.2 cgpa and 3.0 s gpa if i get a 4.0 my remaining semesters. Ecs aren't that great Certified Nurse Assistant and HHA (around 300 hours) Clinical... School that is cheaper ( > $110k) or my preferred school which is closer to family?
Hello all, I have been accepted to KCU-Joplin and Oklahoma State. I have been offered in state tuition at OSU making it around $110k cheaper. I am from Springfield Mo and value my family highly. Would it be worth it to go to KCU in order to be 60 minutes from home instead of 180? Also, I would be able to do my clinical years in Springfield where I, one day, wish to practice. Adding more difficulty, I have a significant other who works in Kansas City as an ICU nurse. Joplin is 2.5 hours... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on Shadowing
I know people say they take advantage of working in a hospital by asking to shadow the doctors but how do I actually go about that. I work registration in the ER and I mostly interact with the nurses not the doctors. Do I just email them, introduce myself with my job title and ask to shadow them? Or go up to them while in the hospital? This may be dumb but I’m genuinely asking lol (Source: Student Doctor Network)
