Got terminated from my job as a respiratory therapist. How should I go about applying to medical school after this?
Context: I worked in the NICU as an RT. As a black male in a unit mostly comprised of Caucasian females, I know to always be on my best behavior. After 2 years of being professional, compassionate, and respectful to every person I interacted with, I eventually gave them a reason to fire me. HR launched an investigation due to a nurse filing a complaint about me. It was related to a conversation that we had almost a month ago to this date. It was during a time when I was in a rough patch w my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rochester vs. UCF
Rochester (COA $90,000, but believe the real cost is significantly higher due to low allocation for housing) Pros - Hospital and Medical School are connected - Pass/Fail preclinical with internal quartiles - Nature, State Parks, and more nearby - Close to Toronto (have extended family there) - Established name recognition, the highest rank (I was accepted at) - Good class size, 100 students - Exposure to students in other departments, nursing, pharm, etc - Pathway program in Medical... Garbage clearances
In the last month, I have run across a few clearances that are downright ridiculous but I get significant pushback from nursing staff and a few surgeons regarding my concerns. All they seem to hear is "there is a clearance in the chart, let's proceed". This has lead to dicey situations with a few malignant surgeons. A few that come to mind 90ish year old man for a total shoulder replacement at an ASC. Positive stress test for ischemia. Family doc cleared for surgery noting that that he had... Number of proctored surgeries
I finished residency in 2021 and have not done surgeries since due to starting with a nursing home job. Now at a private practice I applied for privileges at a hospital and they want me to do 45 proctored cases before giving forefoot only privileges. I am ABFAS foot qualified if that makes any difference. I understand the need to be proctored before giving full privileges but 45 cases to confirm I can do a hammertoe or bunion procedure seems ridiculous. Is this normal or standard... 21 y.o nurse to premed path
Hello everyone, One of the big reasons I want to become a doctor is because I was diagnosed with UC at the age of 10. The reason I did not pursue medical school sooner is because during the end of high school I was in one of the worst flares of my life and accomplishing anything seemed impossible. Because of this- I gave up my hopes on medical school and commit to nursing in hopes I could still help people as much as my body would allow. I have since been in a much better mental state and... Should I go for pharmacy school or nursing school (and then potentially NP)?
So I'm a 23f who graduated with a bachelor in science (Biology major psych minor) in 2021. I was figuring out what I want to do career wise after,,,worked patient care jobs thought I would do PA. However I have a pharmacy school interview coming up (this school which is the one I attended reached out to me after seeing I didn't get in their PA school, I only applied one cycle and gave up) and I thought why not. however nursing is an option for me to do an accelerated program, 16 months and... Path to becoming a psychotherapist
Hi, I am currently planning my career with the final end goal of becoming a licensed psychotherapist. I'm planning to get my ADN and becoming a registered nurse. Then work for a year, get some experience and do travel nursing. I'm interested in majority of the nursing specialties, but mental health nursing seems the most attractive to me (comparing to other nursing specialties), so I'm probably going to pursue that. After that happens I have a couple choices: ADN -> BSN -> Masters in Mental... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
