Propofol waste
Our administration is trying to push a policy that requires wasting propofol similar to how we waste narcotics (requires a witness, etc)
Given the negative affects on workflow (especially in GI) as well as the complete lack of accuracy when wasting when using propofol drips, etc...I am pushing back.
Additionally it will just become a wasted exercise as the nurses will just be blindly witnessing because they won't be familiar with dosing, etc.
I wanted to ask if anyone here currently has...

Does this count as clinical exposure?
I just received an opportunity to volunteer at a free clinic to work as an exam room coordinator. Essentially my duties involve helping patients with their appointments, chart information, relaying information to doctors/nurses etc. and communicating with patients about the next steps, and helping the MA etc. I was also given an opportunity to start scribing for this clinic 2-3 months from now as there is no availability at the moment.
Will this count as clinical work? I was told the role...

UF Online Microbiology Masters
Hi I currently work full time (4x10 hour shifts tues-fri) as a Veterinary Nurse at a specialty hospital and would like to improve my GPA to be more competitive. I found this masters through UF Online and have seen most people say it is doable with a full-time job. It is one year and relatively affordable to me right now. Anyone have any experience with this program? Success? Doable with a full-time job?? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Need advice regarding gap year: would AdComs view me more favorably if I take this 2nd job?
I am working 20 hours a week as a medical scribe while also studying to retake MCAT, volunteering, and shadowing. I’m thinking of taking an additional job working 18-20 hrs a week at a grocery store to have more income and also because I feel AdComs might view me unfavorably otherwise.
I’ve heard that having parents who work in healthcare (in my case dentistry/nursing) may put me at a disadvantage since it’s seen as having a privileged status (which is understandable, but I do try to work...

Does anyone round Nursing Homes/ALFs/SNFS/ etc?
I have been in solo private practice for about a year now while my patient load has filled up. I am about to disperse about 40% of my patients to my first employee to take over so It's going to give me some more time to do other things. I was thinking of getting out of the office a few days and seeing if I can get some contracts with nursing homes.
Is it the same codes? 99205/90792, 99214+90833 or does nursing home rounding carry an additional code? I am not in network with Medicare...

Does my job count as clinical experience?
My official title is imaging modality coordinator. I basically maintain the flow of the department, making sure the mri machines are kept full. Most of my time is spent talking with the nurses over the phone but I do help the techs transfer patients to the mri table, greet them when they arrive, provide blankets, and transport them when needed. Is this clinical? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

For those who do inpatient quickly - how?
I'm not asking how, as in, how is it possible? Just wondering how you do it. I know a lot of people can do it. But I'm out here moonlighting and it's taking me forever to get through a patient panel of 12. Like a full work day of 7-8 hours. What are you guys doing who see 15 patients then bounce to get to PP by noon? Between court, nurses stopping you, etc I just can't get myself to move faster. Any tips? 7,000 nurses on strike- Mount Sinai, NY
Nursing union rejected a 19% pay increase. Elective cases shut down. Travel nurses brought in for a fortune (as high as $300/hr?) to try to stabilize operations. Patients including NICU transferred to other hospitals. New York Governor tried to bring the 2 parties to arbitration with no luck. Maybe residents are bedside at this point? Not sure.

Nurse anesthetists could ease staffing shortages, but most Montana physicians say no thanks
“It is immoral to hold professionals back from providing excellent patient care,” said Joseph Rodriguez with the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology.
