Glad to be alive, but I need some help.
I have a bit of a unique situation, and I would like some guidance moving forward with respect to applying this cycle. I began my college career as a nursing major, and transferred to Biology after working in the hospital as a tech for a period of time. I realized rather late into my college career that the autonomy, and intellectual stimulation of becoming a physician was what I would rather be doing. Unfortunately, by the time I had realized this, I was already a senior in undergraduate... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I want some opinions on what I should do
I am an Asian 26M who graduated from UCI in 2020 with a degree in neurobiology. I was very unmotivated during that time and did not apply myself as much as I should have so I ended up with a very poor uGPA and sGPA. Since then, I became an EMT during COVID and worked full time in both IFT and 911. After that, I returned to community college and began taking prereqs for nursing school while working as a wound tech. I was eventually accepted into the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing's Direct... Ankle biter tasks
Just curious (as a current fellow) what attending life looks like in regards to the little “ankle biter” tasks from nurses/RT/pharmacy that seem to pile up and really jam up work flow in the unit. Would also be very curious if this changes with having an APP or solo coverage. Things like… Patient needs “mechanical soft” modification of their diet orders Restraint orders need to be renewed at 6:55 pm The duonebs are ordered as inhalation but we need it ordered as via ET tube RT can’t... Taking Anatomy and Physiology through an Anthropology Department
I'm strongly considering taking upper level Bio courses at a 4 year university. One course I wish to take is Human Anatomy and Physiology, preferably at a Pre-Med/Bio Major level as opposed to a course tailored to nursing students. I noticed at UAlbany that they do not offer their Anatomy and Physiology course through their Bio Department. Rather, it is offered through the Anthropology department. I'm just a bit thrown off because I have never heard of a school offering Human Anatomy and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can anyone give me some thoughts and advice?
Hey guys. I'm feeling pretty defeated. I am currently in nursing school, and 2 months away from graduating with my associates degree in nursing. Prior to nursing school, I had no direction in my life. Was just being a bum working odd jobs here and there. I'm 28 now and realized that I wanted to do medicine after being exposed to the clinical environment. Patient care is something I eventually learned to love, and honestly can't imagine myself doing anything else. I worked so hard in my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rad Onc? Burnt Out?
Here’s some advice from a senior medical director from a leading prior auth company. You know, those guys who make you wait one week to do a P2P because you wanted to do SRS on a solitary brain met and the nurse reviewer said she can authorize it right away if you do it “by 3D.” Then the P2P guy says, sorry prostate cancer brain mets are excluded from our SRS policy. You can appeal if you’d like. Those guys have nothing to do with your burn out I’m sure. Not to be... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
