HTA20 Deconstructing ICER Value Assessments: Which Components Do Payers Value Most?
The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) conducts 8-12 value assessments annually. These assessments contain various sections summarizing the effectiveness and value of treatments. Since there is limited evidence evaluating which components payers find most influential, we sought to assess payer perceptions on the utility of ICER assessments. (Source: Value in Health)

ConclusionsApparently isolated oCSP at mid-pregnancy is a transient finding with the visualization of the fluid later in pregnancy in up to 70% of cases. At referral, associated defects can be found in around 11% of cases at ultrasound and 8% at fetal MRI indicating the need for a detailed evaluation by expert physicians when oCSP is suspected. Early-Onset Pectus Excavatum Is More Likely to Be Part of a Genetic Variation
Conclusion Early-onset PE is more likely to be part of genetic variations than PE that becomes apparent during puberty or adolescence. Referral for genetic counseling should therefore be considered.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Patients Receiving More Than 25 Platelet Transfusions
Conclusion Neonates who are high users of platelet transfusions appear to be at high risk for poor outcomes, especially respiratory failure. Future studies will examine whether group O neonates are more likely to develop refractoriness and whether certain neonates would have a higher magnitude of posttransfusion rise if they received ABO-identical donor platelets.
