Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1132: Cytoreductive Nephrectomy in Select Primary Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Patients: A Comprehensive Nationwide Outcome Analysis
Conclusions: In this nationwide study, CN was associated with enhanced outcomes in carefully selected patients with primary mRCC. Further randomized trials are warranted. (Source: Cancers)

A Novel Technique for Hand-Assisted Laparoscopy in Difficult Nephrectomies —Is One Hand Better Than Two? A Single-Centre, Single-Surgeon Series
AbstractLaparoscopic radical nephrectomy is the standard of care for T1 renal tumors and nowadays being used for T2 or higher tumors, resulting in higher the conversion rates. To bridge this gap, the hand-assisted laparoscopy (HAL) method was introduced. Even now, in the robotic era, this HAL approach continues to find importance in urology, especially in the most challenging cases, albeit, with a relatively low usage rate due to the cost involved and availability of hand port devices. Here, we report a case series using a novel modification of the HAL nephrectomy (HALN) technique when open conversion is needed. From a pro...

The long-term outcomes of local tumor destruction versus partial nephrectomy for cT1a non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma and development of prognostic nomograms
ConclusionLTD could achieve comparable cancer-control effects as PN among cT1a nccRCC patients. The OS and CSS nomograms worked effectively for prognosis assessment. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology)

Dysregulation of kidney proteases in the pathogenesis of hypertension following unilateral nephrectomy in juvenile mice
CONCLUSION: UNX results in the development of persistent and progressive hypertension. Down-regulation of KLK1 and up-regulation of various cathepsins may contribute to the development of hypertension via multiple mechanisms including a decrease in nitric oxide (NO) production.PMID:38463588 | PMC:PMC10918144 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Efficacy of metamizole to prevent kidney injury after renal-ischaemic reperfusion injury in Wistar rats
CONCLUSION: Metamizole 100 mg/kgBW can reduce IL-18 and MPO levels in RIRI, giving more optimal results without affecting NGAL levels. Metamizole administration can reduce cumulative EGTI scores in RIRI, both at doses of 100 mg/kgBW and 200 mg/kgBW. This study shows that Metamizole can be used to prevent kidney injury caused by RIRI. IL-18 and MPO can be biomarkers in predicting kidney injury in RIRI.PMID:38463114 | PMC:PMC10923394 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001694 (Source: Annals of Medicine)
