Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1175: Clinical and Oncological Outcomes Following Percutaneous Cryoablation vs. Partial Nephrectomy for Clinical T1 Renal Tumours: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
In conclusion, PCA is associated with favourable postoperative complication rates relative to PN. Regarding LRFS, PCA is not worse than PN in cT1a tumours but has a substantially relevant disadvantage in cT1b tumours. Also, RAPN might be the only surgical modality that provides better LRFS than PCA. In cT1 tumours, PCA shows MFS and CSS comparable to PN. Lastly, PCA is associated with a shorter OS than PN. Case report: Isolated eyelid metastasis of ccRCC 5 years after receiving radical nephrectomy
ConclusionsAlthough the probability of eyelid metastasis rate is very low, tumor metastasis to the eyelid skin is possible after radical nephrectomy. Therefore, any rash like changes on the skin during the review procedure cannot be ignored by the physician. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

The relationship between thiamin, folic acid and cognitive function in a rat model of uremia
Ren Fail. 2024 Dec;46(1):2329257. doi: 10.1080/0886022X.2024.2329257. Epub 2024 Mar 14.ABSTRACTEnd-stage renal disease is a worldwide health burden, but the pathogenesis of uremia-associated cognitive impairment (CI) is poorly recognized. We hypothesized that uremia brings about deficiency of thiamin and folic acid and causes CI by inducing oxidative stress. Therefore, 24 Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups: a 5/6 nephrectomy group (n = 12) and a sham-operated group (n = 12). The Morris water maze was used to assess the cognitive function eight weeks post-surgery, and serum levels of thiamin, folic ac...

The long-term outcomes of local tumor destruction versus partial nephrectomy for cT1a non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma and development of prognostic nomograms
CONCLUSION: LTD could achieve comparable cancer-control effects as PN among cT1a nccRCC patients. The OS and CSS nomograms worked effectively for prognosis assessment.PMID:38472549 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05571-8 (Source: Cell Research)

Establishment and application of a new 4/6 infarct nephrectomy rat model for moderate chronic kidney disease
CONCLUSIONS: We developed the 4/6 INx model, which is more moderate than the conventional 5/6 INx model. This model could potentially demonstrate the effectiveness of drugs and supplements intended to prevent CKD and its progression.PMID:38477787 | PMC:PMC10926973 | DOI:10.1590/acb391324 (Source: Acta Cirurgica Brasileira)
