Effect of the Intralesional Forms of Methylprednisolone Acetate and Methotrexate on Psoriatic Nails
Skinmed. 2024 Mar 18;22(1):35-39. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTIndividuals with psoriatic nails often have a lower quality of life relative to their counterparts with healthy nails. Methotrexate (MTX), an anti-neoplastic agent, is a longstanding treatment option for nail psoriasis. In the current study, we compared the effects of MTX to that of a corticosteroid, namely, methylprednisolone acetate (i.e., Depo-Medrol®) across individuals with nail psoriasis. We used a cohort study design, and both agents were administered intralesionally. Outcome variables were based on the Nail Psoriasis Severity Index (NAPSI). We quantified t...

Global tuberculosis disease and infection in systemic lupus erythematosus patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: TB prevalence in SLE was relatively high and associated with GC. Awareness of TB and lowering GC dose are warranted to alleviate the TB burden in SLE.PMID:38490946 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241239504 (Source: Lupus)

Downstaging Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Checkpoint Inhibitor Therapy Improves Access to Curative Liver Transplant
ConclusionWe describe nine patients with HCC outside Milan with inadequate response with liver-directed therapy, who achieved marked responses with CPIT, allowing for consideration of successful liver transplantation. Our case series supports the consideration of locoregional therapies and CPIT for downstaging to within transplant criteria. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)

Recurrent Tolosa-Hunt syndrome: a case report
CONCLUSION: Tolosa-Hunt syndrome is a syndrome of painful ophthalmoplegia which responds well to steroid therapy but has a tendency to recur. Hence, patients must be adequately informed about the reoccurrence and kept under follow-up.PMID:38463132 | PMC:PMC10923349 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001745 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Probable secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis manifesting as central nervous system lesions after COVID-19 vaccination: a case report
ConclusionTo date, 23 cases of COVID-19 vaccine-related HLH have been reported. Additionally, HLH in COVID-19 patients has been reported in various case reports. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of central nervous system involvement in HLH related to any type of COVID-19 vaccine. This case suggests that even when there are no systemic symptoms after COVID-19 vaccination, HLH should be considered as a differential diagnosis if brain lesions are suggestive of CNS demyelinating disease. Clinical manifestations and outcomes in tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome: a case report and a systematic review in China
ConclusionTINU syndrome is prone to misdiagnosis because kidney damage may not occur simultaneously with uveitis. The incidence of kidney sequelae in children is lower than that in adults, and glucocorticoids are the preferred treatment.INPLASY registration number INPLASY202350050. Case Report: Minocycline-induced drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms syndrome: a case report and literature review
In conclusion, we reported a rare minocycline-induced DRESS syndrome who developed fever, eosinophilia, acute rash, pharyngitis, lymphadenopathy, acute kidney injury, hepatitis, and splenomegaly. Our report provides detailed clinical features of minocycline-induced DRESS syndrome, which helps us further understand this severe adverse event. (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)
