Getting a lawyer involved to speed up physician insurance panel credentialing?
I read somewhere once, perhaps here on SDN, that somebody was having a VERY long wait getting approved for a local insurance panel. They got a lawyer involved and the insurance company credentialed the physician immediately. Anybody have any such experience or can point me to the relevant thread, if it exists? Maybe I'm imagining it.... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Psych 5150 Question
Can someone on a 5150 refuse a medical workup? I had one last night who was a real a-hole. Came in on a 5150. First he was mute for several hours then after ativan 1mg IM he was yelling and screaming saying he wants a second opinion, wanted a lawyer, all this crap. Refused to give blood and urine for medical clearance. I think they can...if they can make informed medical decisions then I think they can. But I don't know...and if they refuse to be cooperative then we can't medically... Psych 5150 Question (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lawyer... Harvard Law and a Probably Ridiculous Dream
Hi All, Absolutely brand new to this forum, but I wanted to just put some feelers out for what has always been a dream of mine... a dream that I apparently cannot let go of (no matter how hard I try). Background: I'm 30 years-old and currently an attorney at a "prestigious Biglaw" firm in New York. I graduated from Harvard Law School in 2016 with magna cum laude honors. Before that, I got my master's in education from Stanford; and before that, I did my undergrad at Harvard in... Lawyer... Harvard Law and a Probably Ridiculous Dream (Source: Student Doctor Network)

New gap year job after submitting primaries? What to write on Work and Activities
So I have a gap year job lined up and put it in my work/activities and marked the future hours. But there is a chance I may get a new better gap year job after submitting primaries. Do I just keep my confirmed job on the app for now and if it switches can I notify them later? Both are scribe jobs so actual clinical hours shouldn't be that different but the contacts will be different. What are your thoughts on this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Scribing for a Chiropractor? Good, okay, or bad?
I was applying to a ton of Scribing places because I am somewhat lacking in clinical experience. Haven't heard back from actual physicians/ScribeAmerica yet but how would Scribing for a Chiropractor look if I am pursuing a different degree? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any non-trad South Asians here?
I'll be 30 in a year and a half. By 30 most of us in the South Asian community have finished residency or are close to finishing it, or are successful engineers, lawyers, consultants, etc making a very comfortable 6 figure salary. Then there's me. The anomaly. Almost 30, No degree, no Tesla or Mercedes. Just my bachelors and my 2015 Honda civic. Is it sad? Sure. I wasted nearly a third of my life and the prime years of my youth partying, traveling, and dating instead of building my... Any non-trad South Asians here? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is My Career Over (License Issues)
I am due to start residency in June. The medical board requires documents pertaining to a past arrest (very minor isolated incident ~12 years ago). In no way do I expect this incident to prevent my from getting a license. The issue is, the board wants documentation from courts, police, etc. Some of these bodies are unwilling to send documents without a subpoena and the entire process, even after hiring a lawyer could take a very long time. It's possible the documents don't get to the... Is My Career Over (License Issues) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

[serious] due to begin medical school in a few months. My background check shows an assault charge
I have been accepted to a medical school and am due to start classes in a few months. 2 years ago I was charged with assault after someone filed a false police report against me. I got a lawyer and she convinced the district attorney to drop my charges (there was strong evidence showing I was innocent). The district attorney dismissed the charges after seeing this evidence. However, I just got a copy of the background check and it shows my arrest and charge. It does say “charge dismissed”... [serious] due to begin medical school in a few months. Black listed former CCF resident
Resident doctor who was fired in Cleveland for anti-semitic tweets tried and failed to join Kern Medical It could have been a public relations disaster. Instead, Kern Medical, Bakersfield's only teaching hospital, never hired a first-year resident physician whose name has become associated with anti-semitic declarations on www.bakersfield.com should be a warning regarding social media. essentially blacklisted now. i love the lawyer speak of the CEO however. apparently if she did match, she passed whatever screening they did (not much apparentl...
