Two More
Hi everyone, Some of you may have already seen my first few posts; I’m a (super) non-trad 40-year-old lawyer who was recently accepted to medical school. Throughout the process—prerequisites and the MCAT—I had believed time and again that my age would have been disqualifying to many (if not all) medical schools. I just found out that, as of Friday, I was accepted to two more MD programs in addition to my first acceptance. I didn’t even check my email until today and it came as such a nice... Misdemeanor while in Medical School
Currently in my M2 year and was falsely accused of assault (Class A misdemeanor, some drunk people saw someone fall and thought I punched them) when out one night with my girlfriend early in the school year. Lawyered up and the case has already been dismissed by the court. I also have character letters from multiple people including my girlfriend who was present the night of the incident and can attest to what really happened. The thing is clinical rotations are coming up soon and I'm pretty... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Take Medicine Back
If any of you guys are interested there is a small grassroots movement that’s been around for a couple of years made of physicians and some lawyers helping us who’s mission is to try and take Medicine back from PE and other corporate entitities. There is a FaceBook Group as well as a Website. It discusses the Corporation practice of Medicine and how it’s illegal in many states but of course ignored in the interest of money. I did a virtual conference w them two weekends ago and it was... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Club President as most meaningful activity?
Hi everyone, I'm applying to medical school next cycle and had a question. I have been the club president of a cultural club at my college since my 2nd semester freshman year. I have lead MANY volunteering and fundraising events with a large presence and large number of $$$ raised. I have had chances to bring in speakers who have the same culture as the club to various events to speak about their lives and how their culture has helped them in life (doctors, lawyers, professors, advocates... Contract review lawyer suggestion
Hey everyone. Is anyone here familiar with contract lawyers in Chicago? I'm in the process of exploring options for my contract review and was considering either Contract Diagnostic or Contract Rx from White Coat Investor. Before making a decision, I wanted to reach out here and see if anyone has recommendations for a reliable contract lawyer in Chicago. Personal experiences or any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help- forensics? lying PD
Hi all. I am wondering if anyone can help at all. I had a vindictive PD lie about me to the DOH. It is incredibly obvious to anyone in psychiatry if they read the report that the PD lied, but I am needing to find someone to help call it out to the DOH. Lawyer told me I can't just say the PD is lying and that someone else has to say it. I don't know if I need a forensic psychiatrist or what. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Workers compensation
I am currently an employed physician (interventional pain medicine ) at a hospital setting in California. A friend of mine (is a lawyer) does a lot of workers compensation. He sees the patients and sends them out to the doctors he knows. He told me if I started my own practice he could easily refer 75 (if not closer to 100) patients a month. I am trying to understand the sort of compensation I will get from just 75 workers comp patients a month till the rest of the practice picks up... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

physician fee structure for meeting with lawyer
Just wondering what the going rates are for a physician to charge for meeting with a lawyer to discuss patient/client. Does it matter if the case is worker's compensation versus personal injury? Are the fees different for in-person versus over-the-phone? Any input on what is reasonable would be much appreciated. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Offering 1099 position vs W2
I am part of a private practice group and we discussed offering a 1099 position vs W2 to our CRNA so as to attract certain candidates who do not need benefits package. Our lawyers said this is not legal or discouraged us to do that because if a worker is working like an employee, must be treated as one (i.e. W2). But everywhere I look, hospitals, surgery centers, other private groups are offering 1099 positions. Many job advertisement will say W2 and/or 1099 positions available. Do your... Locums unlawfully broke contract x 2, advice regarding litigation, finding lawyer
Hello, I had two locums companies canceling assignment despite contract and schedule contract being signed in the past year, providing no explanation as to why it was canceled. Both canceled about a week prior to beginning of shift, and in one case had to obtain a DEA which cost $880. In both cases, there were some red flags about client / locums that prompted me to request cancellation of assignment, but locums applied pressure (including threatening litigation) before they canceled on me... Reckless driving
Panicked was going 66/45(didn't see speed limit change on a Virginia road) qualities as reckless driving. Clean record until now and I'm a 3rd year medical student. From what I'm reading online it can be appealed and reduced to an improper driving or speeding ticket but I'm unsure about what to do right now (outside of contacting lawyers). Do I immediately tell my school, will this kill my eras app (if it does get reduced). Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
