C's in anatomy and physiology
by foville1859 (Posted Wed Nov 27, 2013 7:35 pm)If you passed the courses with C's, my opinion is don't go back and re-take them. If you want to try to increase the science GPA more then enroll in some extra class, but do something different. You don't gain very much by repeating the same subjects. And on the subject of volunteering, I think your nursing-home experience is much better than what most applicants will have done. So I would focus on MCAT study and not on doing more volunteer activities (Source: Med Student Guide)

I need Advise GPA 2.9 MCAT plan on retaking
by Brady Kinesia (Posted Sat Nov 16, 2013 10:35 pm)With the college grades, because of the circumstances where you are out-of-school and financial limitations, it's not likely that you can enroll in some kind of post-bac program this year, and take enough more science courses to really raise the GPA. So, MCAT is the big variable that you may be able to control, or change, by doing much better on the test. I don't know what the criteria are for D.O. schools but 15 MCAT is far below average. Average score for all test-takers (not for students who get in, just for everyone who takes the exam) is about 23 or 24, I believeIf yo...

Doing decent on the MCAT without ever having taken biology
by Percival B (Posted Sat Nov 16, 2013 12:25 pm)The answer is basically, yes you could get a "decent", which is to say, average or above-average score on the Biological Sciences section of the MCAT, only by studying MCAT prep books and practice tests, and without having studied biology in college. The question is unusual in that most people wouldn't do MCAT only for fun, but if the challenge interests you, then why not? (Source: Med Student Guide)

What it basically comes down to is taking up whatever your good at and what's going to make you happy during your undergraduate years. As long as you take the required med school prereqs and the mcat and do well in both of these area...you should be good to go. I'm currently an antropology major and lovin it, but I also know that I have to keep doing well in my sci...

pre med/MCAT course
by LJ pre med (Posted Sun Nov 10, 2013 6:43 am)Hii'm 25 and want to apply to med school. I found this school in NY (Manhattan) which was recommended to me as an excellent school for medical exams preparation (in the US and abroad) - especially for those who've been away from school for a while. SO - wondering if anyone else has taken this course? http://www.medicaldoctor-studies.com/ (Source: Med Student Guide)

Med School Chances? 3.3 GPA and a special circumstance D
by BlueLotus (Posted Wed Nov 06, 2013 10:08 am)The MCAT is better than GPA. My cousin is doing MCAT and she was telling most of her seniors got selected after doing MCAT. It is really good for higher studies. So it is always good to go with MCAT. Thanks in advance.___________________________________windows8-upgrade.com (Source: Med Student Guide)

Med school chances, 3.3 gpa
by foville1859 (Posted Wed Nov 06, 2013 9:06 am)What if I only want to go to MD and not DO. How do I improve my chancesYou could contemplate re-taking the MCAT to get a better score than 30. But only if you are very confident that you can improve it by at least a few points. The risk in re-taking MCAT is that you might not improve, or might even do worse than the first time. There is a free tool on this site which gives an estimate of how competitive your application would be, numerically, at a broad range of US medical schools :http://www.studentdoc.com/medfind.htmlYou can also sign up to receive a more detailed report.
