Fungal diversity in homes and asthma morbidity among school-age children in New York City
This study aimed to test the hypothesis that fungal diversity is inversely associated with neighborhood asthma prevalence and identify specific fungal species associated with asthma morbidity.METHODS: Children aged 7-8 years (n = 347) living in higher (11-18%) and lower (3-9%) asthma prevalence neighborhoods were recruited within an asthma case-control study. Fungal communities were analyzed from floor dust using high-throughput DNA sequencing. A subset of asthmatic children (n = 140) was followed to age 10-11 to determine asthma persistence.RESULTS: Neighborhood asthma prevalence was inversely associated with fungal speci...

D-Limonene Alleviates Oxidative Stress Injury of the Testis Induced by Arsenic in Rat
In conclusion, our data reveal a previously unproven beneficial effect of D-limonene, namely that D-limonene can inhibit arsenic-induced testicular injury, and also provide theoretical and experimental basis for the application of D-limonene in the treatment of arsenic-induced testicular injury.PMID:37773484 | DOI:10.1007/s12011-023-03881-z (Source: Biological Trace Element Research)

Recovery From Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss: Association With Cardiovascular Disease Risk
CONCLUSIONS: The prognosis of low-frequency ISSNHL recovery is worse among current/former smokers than nonsmokers. Other CVD risk factors and aggregate risk are not significantly related to recovery.PMID:37748022 | DOI:10.1044/2023_AJA-22-00135 (Source: American Journal of Audiology)

Development of a novel green catalyzed nanostructured Cu(II) macrocyclic complex-based disposable electrochemical sensor for sensitive detection of bisphenol A in environmental samples
Environ Pollut. 2023 Aug 21:122420. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2023.122420. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBPA is an endocrine disruptor and the leading environmental pollutant due to its use as raw material in industries. Therefore, the present work reports the sensitive, efficient, and disposable electrochemical paper-based SPE for determining the BPA sensor using an amide-based macrocyclic complex (nanostructured complex of copper acetate with macrocyclic ligand, i.e., CuL (CH3COO)2) synthesized using Citrus limon (lemon) extract via sonication for the first time. The structural, morphological, and electrochemical analyses ha...

Making Lemonade out of Lemons: Dialectical Behavior Therapy via Telehealth During a Pandemic
We examined the degree of telehealth platform adoption among DBT clinicians, as well as changes in stress and self-care strategies. A supplemental aim was to gather clinicians' recommendations for providing DBT via telehealth. Participants included N = 99 DBT practitioners (79.8% female; 20.2% male). Qualitative and quantitative methods were used for data analysis. Findings show that telehealth DBT has been widely adopted among DBT clinicians, and that clinicians' attitudes to telehealth DBT are cautiously optimistic. Participants described three main areas of stress associated with DBT via telehealth provision, as well as...
