Incidence and risk factors of postoperative pulmonary complications after oral cancer surgery with free flap reconstruction: A single center study
CONCLUSION: The PPC incidence was 25.8% in patients undergoing oral cancer surgery with free flap reconstruction. Tumor stage, age, and ASA >2 were risk factors of developing PPC.PMID:37739911 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2023.09.003 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)

Soluble endoglin exacerbates bile acid retention during labetalol treatment in mice with ethinylestradiol-induced cholestasis
In this study, we hypothesized that ICP increases plasma levels of sEng and that both labetalol and increased sEng levels worsen BA cumulation in estrogen-induced cholestasis, the mice model of ICP. (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Oral nifedipine may be a preferential option for treating acute severe hypertension during pregnancy: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Oral nifedipine was associated with less RTATBP and NoD and otherwise did not differ from intravenous labetalol.PMID:37434338 | DOI:10.1080/10641955.2023.2209637 (Source: Hypertension in Pregnancy)

Blood pressure medication use and postpartum hospital readmission among preeclampsia patients
CONCLUSION: We found that low dose of blood pressure medication was associated with increased odds for readmission within 6 weeks among those with preeclampsia. We recommend that clinicians balance the preference to reduce a blood pressure medication dose with the possible concern that too low a dose may place certain patients on track for hospital readmission after discharge.PMID:37358058 | DOI:10.1080/10641955.2023.2226210 (Source: Hypertension in Pregnancy)
