Occupational Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Wisconsin: Results From a Statewide Electronic Disease Surveillance System and From the Wisconsin Poison Center, 2018-2021
CONCLUSIONS: Incorporating data from the Wisconsin Poison Center improved data quality, but surveillance is limited by underreporting. Creating strategies to increase reporting would allow for a more comprehensive understanding of occupational CO poisoning.PMID:37924239 | DOI:10.1177/00333549231200850 (Source: Public Health Reports)

Trends in Hepatitis C Virus and HIV Care Outcomes Among People With HIV in Georgia, United States, 2014-2019
CONCLUSION: Strategies are needed to increase prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV/HCV coinfection, particularly among PWH born in 1980 and later. Routine linkage of state surveillance data can inform prioritization of PWH at highest risk of HCV infection.PMID:37924243 | DOI:10.1177/00333549231205341 (Source: Public Health Reports)

COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Among US Adults: Safety and Effectiveness Perceptions and Messaging to Increase Vaccine Confidence and Intent to Vaccinate
CONCLUSIONS: Messages that were simple and transparent about what is unknown about vaccines relative to emerging science were viewed most favorably. Health care providers, friends, and family were considered influential in vaccination decision-making. Findings underscore the benefits of research-informed strategies for developing and disseminating effective messages addressing critical issues in a public health emergency.PMID:37924246 | DOI:10.1177/00333549231204419 (Source: Public Health Reports)

State Priorities and Needs: The Role of Block Grants
CONCLUSIONS: Current block grant funding does not align with state characteristics and needs. Future research should consider how funds are used at the state level or allocated to local agencies or organizations and compare state block grant allocations with other types of funding mechanisms, such as categorical funding.PMID:37924249 | DOI:10.1177/00333549231205338 (Source: Public Health Reports)

Increased Vaccine Uptake Among Eligible Patients at a Veterans Affairs Hospital Through an Inpatient COVID-19 Vaccination Program, Atlanta, Georgia, 2021
CONCLUSION: An inpatient vaccination program that integrated COVID-19 vaccination into discharge planning increased vaccine screening and uptake. Future studies are needed to identify barriers to vaccination and strategies to increase vaccine uptake among those who are hesitant.PMID:37924253 | DOI:10.1177/00333549231203238 (Source: Public Health Reports)

Homelessness in the Perinatal Period and Associations With Reproductive Interconception Care: 2016-2019 Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System
CONCLUSIONS: Findings suggest that improving attendance at postpartum visits and evaluating birth interval conversations may strengthen interconception care practices while contextualizing social determinants such as housing stability. Improving uptake of postpartum visits may reduce unintended pregnancy, short birth intervals, and adverse birth outcomes in future pregnancies among women experiencing homelessness.PMID:37924255 | DOI:10.1177/00333549231204658 (Source: Public Health Reports)
