Associations between attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder genetic liability and ICD-10 medical conditions in adults: utilizing electronic health records in a Phenome-Wide Association Study
CONCLUSIONS: Overall our findings indicate that ADHD genetic liability is associated with an increased risk of a substantial number of medical conditions in undiagnosed individuals. These results highlight the need for timely detection and improved management of ADHD symptoms in adults.PMID:38563284 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000606 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Relative associations of behavioral and physiological risks for cardiometabolic disease with cognition in bipolar disorder during mid and later-life: findings from the UK biobank
CONCLUSIONS: Health risk behaviors, as well as blood pressure and muscular strength, are associated with cognitive function in BD, whereas other traditional physiological cardiometabolic disease risk factors are not.PMID:38563285 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000722 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Clinical illness course and family-related outcomes among parents with a first episode of schizophrenia spectrum disorder: a 20-year follow-up of the OPUS trial
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, parents have more favorable long-term outcomes than non-parents. Still, parents experience possible challenges regarding family functioning, and a minority of their children face difficulties in daily life.PMID:38563286 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000680 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

The mediating role of reflective functioning and general psychopathology in the relationship between childhood conduct disorder and adult aggression among offenders
CONCLUSIONS: These findings highlight the critical role of a transdiagnostic approach provided by RF and general psychopathology in explaining the link between CD and aggression. Furthermore, they underscore the potential utility of treatments focusing on RF, such as mentalization-based treatment, in mitigating aggression in offenders with diverse psychopathologies.PMID:38563288 | DOI:10.1017/S003329172400062X (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Age-atypical brain functional networks in autism spectrum disorder: a normative modeling approach
CONCLUSIONS: Individuals with ASD exhibit distinct, highly individualized trajectories of brain functional network development. In addition, distinct developmental trajectories were observed among ASD and TD individuals, suggesting that it may be challenging to identify true differences in network characteristics by comparing young children with ASD to their TD peers. This study enhances understanding of the biological heterogeneity of the disorder and can inform precision medicine.PMID:38563297 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000138 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Assessing regional intracortical myelination in schizophrenia spectrum and bipolar disorders using the optimized T1w/T2w-ratio
CONCLUSIONS: While we found no evidence of reduced intracortical myelin in SCZ or BPD relative to CTR, different regional age trajectories in SCZ may suggest a promyelinating effect of antipsychotic medication.PMID:38563302 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000503 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

The stability and change of wellbeing across the lifespan: a longitudinal twin-sibling study
CONCLUSION: These findings provide insights into the stability and change of wellbeing and the genetic and environmental influences across the lifespan. Genetic effects were mostly stable, except in adolescence, whereas the environmental innovation at every age suggests that changing environmental factors are a source of changes in individual differences in wellbeing over time.PMID:38533784 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000692 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Adaptive-to-maladaptive gradient of emotion regulation tendencies are embedded in the functional-structural hybrid connectome
CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, our study illustrates a gradient of emotion regulation tendencies that is best captured when simultaneously considering the functional and structural connections across the whole brain.PMID:38533787 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000473 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Optimizing precision medicine for second-step depression treatment: a machine learning approach
CONCLUSION: Ensemble machine learning has potential to predict second-step treatment. In this study, predictive performance varied by type of treatment, with greater accuracy in predicting remission in response to behavioral treatments than to pharmacotherapy interventions. Future directions include considering more informative predictor modalities to enhance prediction of second-step treatment response.PMID:38533794 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000497 (Source: Psychological Medicine)
