Centrality statistics of symptom networks of schizophrenia: a systematic review
This study aims to compare statistics of the symptom network publications on PDS in the last 21 years and identify congruences and discrepancies in the literature. More specifically, we will focus on centrality statistics. Thirty-two studies met the inclusion criteria. The results suggest that cognition, and social, and occupational functioning are central to the network of symptoms. Positive symptoms, particularly delusions were central among participants in many studies that did not include cognitive assessment. Nodes representing cognition were most central in those studies that did. Nodes representing negative symptoms...

Neural response to monetary and social rewards and familial risk for psychopathology in adolescent females
CONCLUSIONS: The RewP in adolescent females is associated with both concurrent and parental psychopathology symptoms, suggesting that it indexes both severity and risk for higher-order subfactors.PMID:38173094 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003720 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Within-individual relationships between mother-to-infant bonding and postpartum depressive symptoms: a longitudinal study
CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated that the within-individual relationship between mother-to-infant bonding and postpartum depressive symptoms is likely non-bidirectional. The significance of the findings is underscored by the potential for interventions aimed at improving mother-to-infant bonding to alleviate postpartum depressive symptoms, suggesting avenues for future research and practice.PMID:38173095 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003707 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Assessing social cognition in patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls using the reading the mind in the eyes test (RMET): a systematic review and meta-regression
Psychol Med. 2024 Jan 4:1-27. doi: 10.1017/S0033291723003501. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe reading the mind in the eyes test (RMET) - which assesses the theory of mind component of social cognition - is often used to compare social cognition between patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls. There is, however, no systematic review integrating the results of these studies. We identified 198 studies published before July 2020 that administered RMET to patients with schizophrenia or healthy controls from three English-language and two Chinese-language databases. These studies included 41 separate samples of patien...

The joint effects of genetic liability and the death of close relatives on risk for major depression and alcohol use disorder in a Swedish national sample
CONCLUSIONS: Genetic risk for both MD and AUD act in part by increasing the sensitivity of individuals to the pathogenic effects of environmental stressors. For prediction of MD, similar effects are also seen for genetic risk for AD and BD.PMID:38173119 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003641 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

EMDR < em > v. < /em > other psychological therapies for PTSD: a systematic review and individual participant data meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The current study found no significant difference between EMDR and other psychological treatments. We found some indication of the moderating effects of gender and employment status.PMID:38173121 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003446 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Abnormal intrinsic brain functional network dynamics in first-episode drug-na ïve adolescent major depressive disorder
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests local segregation and global integration impairments and segregation-integration imbalance of functional networks in adolescent MDD patients from the perspectives of dynamic FC. These findings may provide new insights into the neurobiology of adolescent MDD.PMID:38173122 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003719 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Amygdala-related electrical fingerprint is modulated with neurofeedback training and correlates with deep-brain activation: proof-of-concept in borderline personality disorder
CONCLUSIONS: Recorded via scalp EEG, the Amyg-EFP picks up brain activation of high relevance for emotion. Administering Amyg-EFP NF in addition to standardized BPD treatment was shown to be feasible. Clinical utility remains to be investigated.PMID:38131344 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003549 (Source: Psychological Medicine)
