Select or adjust? How information from early treatment stages boosts the prediction of non-response in internet-based depression treatment
CONCLUSIONS: Fair accuracies were only attainable by involving information from early treatment stages. In-treatment adaptation, instead of a priori selection, might constitute a more feasible approach for improving response when relying on easily accessible self-report features. Implementation trials are needed to determine clinical usefulness.PMID:38087867 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003537 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

What is the duration of untreated psychosis worldwide? - A meta-analysis of pooled mean and median time and regional trends and other correlates across 369 studies
In conclusion, DUP is high throughout the world, with marked variation. Efforts to identify and intervene sooner in patients with FEP, and to promote global mental health and access to early intervention services (EIS) are critical, especially in developing countries.PMID:38087871 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003458 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Prevalence of body-focused repetitive behaviors in a diverse population sample - rates across age, gender, race and education
DISCUSSION: BFRBs are ubiquitous. More severe forms, BFRDs, manifest in approximately one out of four people. In view of the often-irreversible somatic sequelae (e.g. scars) BFRBs/BFRDs deserve greater diagnostic and therapeutic attention by clinicians working in both psychology/psychiatry and somatic medicine (especially dermatology and dentistry).PMID:38087951 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003392 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Maternal social support during and after pregnancy and child cognitive ability: examining timing effects in two cohorts
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings, supported from two prospective longitudinal cohorts, suggest a distinct role of maternal perceived social support during pregnancy for cognitive development in children. Our study suggests that interventions aimed at increasing maternal social support during pregnancy may be an important strategy for promoting maternal and child well-being.PMID:38087866 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003550 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Brain functional changes across mood states in bipolar disorder: from a large-scale network perspective
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings identify a distributed pattern of large-scale network disturbances in the unique context of (hypo)mania and thus provide new evidence for our understanding of the neural mechanism of BD.PMID:38084586 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723002453 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Dynamic structure-function coupling across three major psychiatric disorders
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest both transdiagnostic and illness-specific alterations in the dynamic structure-function relationship of large-scale brain networks across MDD, BD, and SZ, providing new insights and potential biomarkers into the neurodevelopmental basis underlying the behavioral and cognitive deficits observed in these disorders.PMID:38084608 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003525 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

The effect of a low-calorie diet on depressive symptoms in individuals with overweight or obesity: a systematic review and meta-analysis of interventional studies
CONCLUSIONS: There is evidence that LCDs may reduce depressive symptoms in people with overweight or obesity in the short term. Future well-controlled intervention studies, including a non-active control group, and longer-term follow-ups, are warranted in order to make more definitive conclusions.PMID:38084632 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003586 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Divorce and risk of suicide attempt: a Swedish national study
CONCLUSIONS: The association between divorce and risk of suicide attempt is complex, varying as a function of sex and time-related variables. Given evidence that the observed association is due in part to a causal pathway from divorce to suicide attempt, intervention or prevention efforts, such as behavioral therapy, could be most effective early in the divorce process, and in particular among females and those whose marriages were of short duration.PMID:38084643 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291723003513 (Source: Psychological Medicine)
