The Lipopolysaccharide Mutant Re-LPS Is a Useful Tool for Detecting LPS Contamination in Rheumatoid Synovial Cell Cultures
Conclusion: To easily identify LPS contamination during routine experiments, our results suggest that Re-LPS is a better tool for rapid detection of LPS contamination compared to PMB and heat treatment.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Increase in Chondroitin Sulfate and Decline in Arylsulfatase B May Contribute to Pathophysiology of COVID-19 Respiratory Failure
Conclusion: Decline in ARSB and resulting increases in CS may contribute to the pathobiology of COVID-19, as IL-6 does. Increased expression of CHSTs following activation of Ang-converting enzyme 2 may lead to buildup of CSs.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Microsatellite Instability Is Rare in the Admixed Brazilian Population of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Cohort of 526 Cases
Conclusions: The frequency of MSI in Brazilian NSCLC patients is equally rare, a finding that is consistent with the current literature based on other populations such as Europeans, North Americans, and Asians.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

miR-31-5p/SOX4 Axis Affects Autophagy and Apoptosis of Chondrocytes by Regulating Extracellular Regulated Protein Kinase/Mechanical Target of Rapamycin Kinase Signalling
Conclusion: These results demonstrated that miR-31-5p enhanced survival and autophagy of OA chondrocytes through inactivation of mTORC1 via directly targeting SOX4, suggesting that miR-31-5p may play a protective role in OA progression.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Frequency of Human Papillomavirus Detection in Chagasic Megaesophagus Associated or Not with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Conclusion: This is the first report of the presence of HPV DNA in CM associated with ESCC. HPV infection was more presence in megaesophagus lesions. Further studies are needed to confirm and better understand the role of persistent HPV infection in patients with CM.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Unusual Mesenchymal Tumors of the Lower Gastrointestinal Tract: When You Hear Hoofbeats in the Night, Do Not Forget the Zebras
Conclusion: Mesenchymal tumors of the lower GI tract represent a highly heterogeneous group of lesions encompassing GISTs, lipomas, smooth muscle tumors (leiomyoma and leiomyosarcoma), GI schwannomas, inflammatory fibroid polyps, solitary fibrous tumors, and other unusual spindle cell tumors. Immunohistochemistry and, in selected cases, molecular biology remain a useful tool which, in addition to a meticulous study of the morphology, helps the pathologist in the tangled jungle of differential diagnosis.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Phenotypic Differences of CD103 < sup > + < /sup > Tissue-Resident Memory T Cells Associated with Various Cancers
Conclusion: TRM cell abundance and phenotypes varied among CC, SC, RCC, and BC. Further studies regarding the functional differences of TRM associated with various tumors are warranted.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

High Inter- and Intratumoral Variability of Ki67 Labeling Index in Newly Diagnosed Prostate Cancer with High Gleason Scores
Conclusions: Our data demonstrate major inter- and intratumoral variability of Ki67 LI in high-grade PC with a surprisingly low Ki67 LI in a subset of cases. Further studies are necessary to explore the molecular basis and potential clinical implications of a paradoxically low proliferation rate in high-grade PC.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection Promotes Human Papillomavirus-Mediated Anal Squamous Carcinogenesis: An Immunologic and Pathobiologic Review
Background: Anal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a rare gastrointestinal malignancy with rising incidence, both in the United States and internationally. The primary risk factor for anal SCC is human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. However, there is a growing burden of disease in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and HPV coinfection, with the incidence of anal SCC significantly increasing in this population. This is particularly true in HIV-infected men. The epidemiologic correlation between HIV-HPV coinfection and anal SCC is established; however, the immunologic mechanisms underlying this relationship are...
