Extramedullary Haematopoiesis in Axillary Lymph Nodes of Breast Carcinoma Patients Receiving Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy: A Potential Diagnostic Pitfall
We report the case of a 68-year-old Caucasian female with a family history of cancer. Core biopsy revealed that she had grade II oestrogen receptor-negative, Her2-positive invasive ductal carcinoma. She was offered neoadjuvant chemotherapy with Herceptin and subsequently underwent breast-conserving surgery. Microscopic examination of the post-treatment breast surgical specimen showed a partial pathological response with large areas of tumour regression. The sentinel lymph node showed frequent large single and multinucleate giant cells with hyperchromatic nuclei located predominantly within the subcapsular and medullary sin...

Exosomes from Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin-Activated Dendritic Cells Promote Th2 Differentiation through the OX40 Ligand
Conclusion: Blockade of OX40L in DC-derived exosomes could inhibit exosome-mediated CD4+ T proliferation and Th2 differentiation.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Effect of Hawthorn Leaf Flavonoids in Dehydroepiandrosterone-Induced Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in Rats
Conclusion: HLF manifest protective effects against PCOS progression in the animal model, which may hold great promise for future clinical applications.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

< b > < i > RUNX1 < /i > < /b > Mutations Can Lead to Aberrant Expression of CD79a and PAX5 in Acute Myelogenous Leukemias: A Potential Diagnostic Pitfall
Conclusion: Aberrant CD79a and/or PAX5 expression can be found in AML cases withRUNX1 mutations even without the translocation t(8; 21). Our series shows the expression of CD79a and PAX5 to be a potential pitfall in the classification ofRUNX1 mutant acute leukemia.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

The American Joint Commission Cancer 8th Edition Prognostic Stage Including Oncotype DX ® Recurrence Score: Impact on Staging of Early Breast Cancer
Conclusion: Application of PS and RS-modified PS results in tumour downstaging in approximately 20% of patients with early BC. Upstaging was observed in 9% of patients when staged according to PS and was primarily due to the impact of high histological grade.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Progression Potential of Ductal Carcinoma in situ Assessed by Genomic Copy Number Profiling
Conclusion: Classification of breast tumors into rapidly progressive cluster A and the other (cluster B) may contribute to select the treatment appropriate for their progression risk.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Breast Tumours Resembling the Tall Cell Variant of Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma: Are They Part of the Papillary Carcinoma Spectrum or a Distinct Entity?
Conclusion: Features characteristic of BTRTPC overlap with other PCs of the breast. Molecular and immunohistochemical biomarkers are needed to provide objective diagnostic criteria for the characterisation of such lesions in routine practice.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Resistance to Fas-Mediated Apoptosis Does Not Correlate to Structural Alterations or Expression Changes of the Death Receptor in Papillary Thyroid Carcinomas
Conclusions: Our results denote thatFAS death domain orTP53 DNA-binding domain mutations, down-regulation of FAS receptor expression, or expression ofFAS soluble isoform are not responsible for the seeming inhibition of FAS-mediated apoptosis in papillary thyroid carcinoma cells.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Early Loss of Forkhead Transcription Factor, O Subgroup, Member 1 Protein in the Development of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma
Conclusions: Loss of FOXO1 protein is identified as an early event during PDAC development and may be independent of the top 4 mutated cancer genes. Because of its strong expression in normal ductal cells, immunohistochemical detection of FOXO1 can function as a valuable test to establish the diagnosis of transformation and malignancy in pancreatic tissues.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Clinical Implication of Multi-Parameter Flow Cytometry in Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a challenging group of diseases for clinicians and researchers, as both disease course and pathobiology are highly heterogeneous. In (suspected) MDS patients, multi-parameter flow cytometry can aid in establishing diagnosis, risk stratification and choice of therapy. This review addresses the developments and future directions of multi-parameter flow cytometry scores in MDS. Additionally, we propose an integrated diagnostic algorithm for suspected MDS.Pathobiology 2018;85:274 –283 (Source: Pathobiology)

Immunohistochemical and Molecular Analyses Focusing on Mesenchymal Cells in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma with Desmoid-Type Fibromatosis
Conclusion: This study suggests the significance of theBRAFV600E mutation and activation of Wnt signaling pathway in the carcinoma cells and DTF components, respectively. We believe that theCTNNB1 mutations are not the major factor behind β-catenin translocation indicating Wnt pathway activation. Further study is required to evaluate whether molecular abnormalities other than theCTNNB1 mutation cause activation of Wnt signaling in DTF components of PTC-DTF.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)
