Mutational Profiling of Driver Tumor Suppressor and Oncogenic Genes in Brazilian Malignant Pleural Mesotheliomas
Conclusions: We concluded that Brazilian MPM harbor mutation in classic tumor suppressor and oncogenic genes, which might help in the guidance of personalized treatment of MPM.Pathobiology 2020;87:208 –215 (Source: Pathobiology)

Erythromycin Regulates Cigarette Smoke-Induced Proinflammatory Mediator Release Through Sirtuin 1-Nuclear Factor κB Axis in Macrophages and Mice Lungs
Conclusion: These findings suggest that EM increased SIRT1, leading to acetylation/expression of NF- κB, and thereby decreasing cigarette smoke-driven NF-κB-dependent proinflammatory cytokine.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Comparison of Quantitative Analysis of Methylated Alleles Real-Time PCR and Methylation-Specific MLPA for Molecular Diagnosis of Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome
Conclusions: The small sample size reflects the rare nature of this epigenetic disorder, and the range of ages was quite wide, as was the degree of disease severity. Therefore, further validation with larger cohorts is warranted.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

< b > < i > SEC11A < /i > < /b > Expression Is Associated with Basal-Like Bladder Cancer and Predicts Patient Survival
Conclusion: These results indicate that SPC18 plays an important role in the progression of BC. Specific inhibitors of SPC18 may be promising anticancer drugs for patients with basal-like BC.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Concurrent Expression of CD47 and CD44 in Colorectal Cancer Promotes Malignancy
In this study, expression of CD47 was examined by immunostaining in colorectal cancer (CRC) and compared with the expression of CD44, which is a marker for cancer stem cells. In 95 cases of stage II –IV CRC, CD47 and CD44 showed overexpression in 82 and 80 cases, respectively. Both expression levels correlated with distant metastasis. Moreover, the expression of CD47 and CD44 in each case showed a significant correlation. In stage III cases, disease-free survival of cases showing high express ion of CD47 and CD44 was worse than that of the cases with low expression. Furthermore, 3 of the stage IV cases were administered ...

Suppressed Expression but Not Activity of Collagenases MMP-1 and MMP-13 in Human Renal Carcinoma
Conclusions: The lower content and higher activity of the collagenases investigated in cancer tissue indicate that most of these enzymes are in active form in renal carcinoma. The lower collagen content in cancer tissue can be explained at least in part by increased collagenase activity.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

MicroRNA-147b Promotes Proliferation and Invasion of Human Colorectal Cancer by Targeting RAS Oncogene Family (RAP2B)
Conclusions: miR-147b not only plays important roles in the regulation of cell proliferation and tumor growth in CRC, which might be a potential prognostic marker or therapeutic target for CRC.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Immunostaining of Increased Expression of Enhancer of Zeste Homolog 2 (EZH2) in Diffuse Midline Glioma H3K27M-Mutant Patients with Poor Survival
Conclusion: We suggest that the expression of EZH2 is not associated with the PRC2 pathway and increases in patients with H3K27M-mutant diffuse midline glioma and a poor prognosis. Further studies are necessary to understand the mechanism involved.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Eradication of < b > < i > Helicobacter pylori < /i > < /b > Induces Immediate Regressive Changes in Early Gastric Adenocarcinomas
Conclusion:H. pylori eradication rapidly causes cancer regression and leads to tumor shrinkage, diminished atypism, and shortened proliferative zone, resulting in drastic morphological changes.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

No Evidence of Microsatellite Instability and Loss of Mismatch-Repair-Protein Expression in Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Penis
Conclusion: MSI and defects in MMR protein expression are not regular features of penile SCC and might not act as biomarkers for PD-1/PD-L1 blockade therapy in penile carcinoma.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)

Rapidly and Slowly Growing Lineages in Chromosomal Instability-Type Gland-Forming Gastric Carcinomas as Revealed by Multisampling Analysis of DNA Copy-Number Profile
Conclusions: We demonstrated that CIN-type GC could be categorized into 2 genetic lineages which are different in terms of rapidity of local extension but similar in terms of nodal metastasis risk.Pathobiology (Source: Pathobiology)
