Gingival manifestation of Crohn ’s disease in a paediatric patient: a case report
AbstractCrohn ’s disease (CD) is a complex multisystemic inflammatory disorder and part of the inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs). About 20% of the subjects affected by IBDs are paediatric patients and 21% of them present extraintestinal manifestations. Among the extraintestinal manifestations of CD, oral manif estations are rather frequent (20-50% of affected people) and can be difficult to identify, being frequently aspecific and not pathognomonic. Their early diagnosis by the dentist is extremely important, because extraintestinal manifestations can precede intestinal symptoms, in all patients but espec ially in child...

Primary Epithelioid Sarcoma of the Oral Cavity: Review of Literature and Presentation of a Rare Entity
ConclusionEpithelioid sarcoma is a clinically aggressive sarcoma with poor overall survival. Treatment is primarily based on evidence from limited case reports and treatment of non-head and neck soft tissue sarcomas. Treatment requires a multimodal approach including surgical excision and often postoperative radiation therapy, and close follow-up. (Source: Oral Surgery)

A new technique for closure of an immediate oroantral communication following tooth extraction by free buccal fat pad graft: Case report
ConclusionsWithin the limits of this report, the use of FBFPG in the immediate closure of small- to medium-oroantral communication is a simple procedure with low complication after the surgery, it can be used without elevating any flaps and without causing any change in the depth of the buccal sulcus and the symmetry of the face. A rare and unusual laryngeal complication following lingual nerve block: A case report and literature review
AbstractLocal anaesthesia (LA) is the standard of care in adequate pain control during routine dental practice as well as minor oral surgery procedures. Thus, LA offers pain control and comfort to the patient, enabling the clinician to perform the scheduled procedure with confidence and patient safety. The present case report describes the rare complication of vocal cord paralysis following a lingual nerve block. (Source: Oral Surgery)

Application of platelet ‐rich fibrin after surgical extraction of the mandibular third molar: a systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsDue to a small number of included studies, it was not possible to evaluate the effect of PRF after mandibular third molar surgery. Future trials should focus on a higher methodological quality to produce reliable and comparable study results. (Source: Oral Surgery)

Etio ‐histomorphogenesis of styloid enlargement—A novel and extensive light microscopic analysis of 10 cases of Eagle’s syndrome
ConclusionRepetitive stress, traction or traumatic stimuli brought to bear upon the apices and lateral surfaces of styloid processes via tendinous insertions of the SL and styloid group of muscles, as a result of neck and hyoid movements, are likely to serve as triggering factors, stimulating an osseous metaplasia of connective cells within these mesenchymal structures as well as in the periosteal fibrous tissue, into osteoblasts and osteocytes. This reactive response is followed by osteogenesis and laying down of woven bone at these sites, resulting in increase in length and circumference of the SPs and their attendant, a...

A case of severe odontogenic infection in Kikuchi ‐Fujimoto Disease
We report a case of deep neck space infection arising from a small dentigerous cyst associated with an impacted mandibular third molar in a patient with a recent diagnosis of KFD. We consider the unusual severity of the clinical presentation and suggest that KFD may have a role in the exaggerated response to a minimal dentigerous cyst. (Source: Oral Surgery)

Clinical manifestations and treatment of oral and maxillofacial space infections with a third molar origin
ConclusionDM is a risk factor for oral and maxillofacial space infections. Space infections with third molar origins are associated with serious complications. Based on patient's conditions, treatment plans should be comprehensively evaluated and personalized treatment plans formulated. Antibiotic administration by clinicians is not standardized, therefore, it is important to make adjustments depending on subsequent bacterial culture results. (Source: Oral Surgery)

Nodular fasciitis in cervicofacial region: a rare case description and literature review
ABSTRACTNodular fasciitis is a relatively rare pathology, first described by Konwaler in 1955, which derives from an uncontrolled fibroblastic proliferation. Many authors have described this pathology in the literature, considering previous trauma as a predisposing condition. It predominantly afflicts males between the 2nd and 4th decade of life. A rapid growth, high cellularity and infiltrative borders are the main characteristics of this fasciitis. Even though it can be ubiquitous, the head and neck regions are affected in about 13 to 37% of cases. The symptoms and signs depend on the localization and size of the neoplas...
