Non ‐Ossifying Fibroma of the Mandible: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
AbstractThe case reported here is a large non-ossifying fibroma (NOF) of the mandible presenting in a 24-year-old male patient. The lesion was diagnosed through radiological and histopathological assessment. It remains under observation without surgical intervention, despite its large size, as the extensive surgery to remove it is not currently justifiable.Whilst common at the metaphysis of the long bones in paediatric patients, NOFs are rarely observed in the jaw bones. These benign fibrous lesions are often asymptomatic and may be an incidental radiological finding. Most NOFs of the limbs presenting in children will not ...

Combined Abutment Screw and Implant Platform Fracture of Screw Retained Bridge
We report a rare event of combined fracture of abutment screws and the neck of implant fixtures of two implants restored with fixed bridge in mandibular left first and second molar region. The dilemma of identifying this situation with step wise clinical events is described in detail. The implant platform fracture was diagnosed with the help of cone beam computed tomography in addition to the clinical examination. The severe mesial prosthetic cantilever and severe lingual inclination of the implants were found to be the possible causative factors. Both the implants were removed with the help of trephine burs and patient wa...

Suspected cancer (red flag) referrals: A review of our experience in Northern Ireland
ConclusionOur department successfully met the 2-week target in all cases. PPV does however remain low but within recognised guidance limits and could potentially be improved by further education of referrers and/or inclusion of a clinical photo at the time of referral. (Source: Oral Surgery)

Does low ‐level laser therapy decrease pain and edema in patients undergoing orthognathic surgery? Systematic review and meta‐analysis
AbstractThis systematic review purposed to investigate whether low-level laser therapy is effective in reducing pain and edema in patients undergoing orthognathic surgery. An electronic search was conducted in PubMed, SCOPUS, Embase, SciELO, Web of Science, LILACS, IEEE XPLORE, Google Scholar, OpenThesis, OpenGrey, and Open Access Thesis and Dissertations with no restrictions on language or year of publication. PICOS strategy was used to define the eligibility criteria. The risk of bias (ROB 2.0 Tool) and methodological quality assessment was carried out, and a meta-analysis was performed using a random-effect model. The q...

Research Focuses and Trends in Third Molar: A Bibliometric Analysis
ConclusionThe present bibliometric analysis showed that articles published by international collaborative authors had the highest citations and there was no association between the number of citations and the quality of published articles on third molars. Identifying future research directions based on a bibliometric analysis of the characteristics of available literature in a field reduces the error margin and thus improves decision-making.
