Full-field Electroretinography Changes Associated with Age-related Macular Degeneration: A Systematic Review with Meta-Analyses
Background: To systematically review the literature and to perform meta-analyses on full-field electroretinography (ffERG) between healthy controls and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) to map the extent of retinal dysfunction. Summary: We systematically searched 11 databases on 3 March 2021. Eligible studies had to measure retinal function using ffERG in eyes with AMD and in healthy controls. We extracted data on a-wave and b-wave function in dark- and light-adapted ffERG, and calculated summary estimates on differences between eyes with AMD and controls using weighted mean differences (WMD). Subgroup analyses were ...

Idiopathic Macular Hole without Vitreomacular Separation
Purpose: To investigate the clinical features and treatment outcomes of idiopathic full thickness macular hole (FTMH) without vitreomacular separation (VMS). Methods: Consecutive cases of idiopathic FTMH at one tertiary center from January 2013 to April 2020 was retrospectively recruited. They were separated into two groups according to the findings in optical coherence tomography (OCT): FTMH with VMS and FTMH without VMS. Ophthalmic examinations and OCT were performed pre and postoperatively. The clinical findings were compared between two groups. Results: Of the total 124 cases, 15 (12.1 %) were noted as FTMH without V...

Long-term Efficacy of a Treat-and-Extend Regimen With Ranibizumab in Patients With Neovascular Age-Related Macular Disease: An Open-label 12-month Extension to the CANTREAT Study
Conclusion: These findings suggest that after 36 months of treatment, the mean BCVA improvement achieved at 24 months is maintained for both the patients exclusively treated with th e TE regimen and those that switched to TE after 24 months in the OM regimen. (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Effect of Duration of Silicone Oil Tamponade on Retinal Structure after Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Surgery
Conclusion: SO tamponade causes a thinning of all retinal layers, mainly affecting the inner retinal layer. However, these changes resolved following SO extraction and were not affected by longer tamponade duration.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Choriocapillaris Flow Signal Impairment in Sorsby Fundus Dystrophy
ABSTRACT Purpose To quantify choriocapillaris flow alterations in early Sorsby Fundus Dystrophy (SFD) and to investigate the relationship of the choriocapillaris flow deficits with the choroidal and outer retinal microstructure. Methods In this prospective case-control study, 18 eyes of 11 patients with early SFD and 31 eyes of 31 controls without ocular pathology underwent multimodal imaging, including spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT), followed by deep-learning-based layer segmentation. OCT Angiography (OCTA) was performed to quantify choriocapillaris flow signal deficits (FDs). Differences in chori...

The effect of intravitreal bevacizumab dose on retinal vascular progression in retinopathy of prematurity.
Conclusion: The ratio of FD to DD decreased significantly with increasing age. The additional treatment rate and progression of retinal vascularization by unit of FD were similar between the gro ups. The difference of LTRV by unit of DD was higher in the low dose group. The usage of different formulas and methods may affect the evaluation of the progression of retinal vascularization. Structural and vascular changes of the choroid in polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy after intravitreal anti-VEGF therapy
Introduction: To identify the changes in vessel density (VD) of choriocapillaris (CC) and in subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) and to evaluate their correlation with functional response after three monthly intravitreal injections of Ranibizumab (loading phase) in patients affected by Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy (PCV). Methods: A total of 30 eyes of 30 PCV patients and 30 eyes of 30 healthy subjects as control group were enrolled in this prospective study. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was measured at baseline and after one month from third intravitreal injections in each patient. The VD of CC was evalua...

Progression of macular atrophy in patients receiving long-term anti-VEGF therapy for age-related macular degeneration; Real Life Data
Conclusion In this real-life setting, half of neovascular AMD patients under anti-VEGF treatment, without MA at thera py initiation, developed MA over a period of at least 6 years. In this work, the number of injections did not seem to have a significant association with MA progression. (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Optical Coherence Tomography Prognostic Factors in AMD Patients with Peripapillary Choroidal Neovascularization
Purpose: To investigate the correlation between optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings and visual acuity outcomes after treatment with intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) injections for age related macular degeneration (AMD) patients with peripapillary choroidal neovascularization (PPCNV). METHODS: A retrospective case series of consecutive patients diagnosed with PPCNV secondary to AMD. All patients were treated with IVB injections with a follow-up time of one year. Data collected included best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), automated and manually measured OCT parameters. RESULTS: A total of 68 eyes were diagnosed with...
