Comparison between Findings in Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography and in Fluorescein Angiography in Patients with Diabetic Retinopathy
Conclusion: We found a good agreement for the size of the FAZ and a weak agreement regarding the count of MAs in both imaging modalities. The readers favored OCTA for the assessment of the FAZ and FA for the assessment of MAs. Complementary use of FA and OCTA ensures the best diagnostic approach in patients with diabetic retinopathy.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

One-Year Results of Fixed Aflibercept Treatment Regime in Type 3 Neovascularization
Conclusion: Intravitreal aflibercept administered in a fixed treatment regime during the first year of therapy may be effective for the improvement and stabilization of BCVA in eyes with type 3 neovascularization. However, RPE atrophy and subretinal/intraretinal fibrosis can develop during the treatment.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Quantitative Analysis of Retinal Microvascular Changes after Conbercept Therapy in Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion Using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography
Conclusion: OCTA enables non-invasive, layer-specific and quantitative assessment of microvascular changes in eyes with BRVO before and after treatment, and it can be used as a valuable imaging tool for the evaluation of the follow-up in BRVO patients.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Effect of Air Tamponade on Tilt of the Intraocular Lens after Phacovitrectomy
Conclusions: Air tamponade does not induce significantly more tilt or decentration of the IOL in combined phacoemulsification and vitrectomy compared to balanced salt solution. Potentially, this may not hold true for cases with a capsulorhexis that does not overlap the IOL optic.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Premacular Cell Proliferation Profiles in Tangential Traction Vitreo-Maculopathies Suggest a Key Role for Hyalocytes
Conclusion: All three types of vitreo-maculopathy have similar cell constituents in their premacular tissue. Cell population of premacular proliferation is not unique for LMHs. Corresponding to SD-OCT, electron microscopy demonstrates hyalocytes and vitreous collagen in PMMs both directly adjacent to the cellular complex of premacular proliferation. Study results point to the vitreous as one important pathogenic player potentially driving the degenerative cellular process at the vitreoretinal interface in tangential traction vitreo-maculopathies.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Same-Day Bilateral Intravitreal Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Injections: Experience of a Large Canadian Retina Center
Conclusions: Same-day bilateral intravitreal anti-VEGF injections present a low rate of complications and are well tolerated by patients. This safe practice may reduce the burden on the health-care system and on the patients.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Correlation between Visual Function and Structural Characteristics of the Macula in Advanced Retinitis Pigmentosa
We aimed to correlate the visual function and structural characteristics of the retina and choroid in advanced retinitis pigmentosa (RP) patients. A cross-sectional, retrospective review was conducted of medical records of 149 RP patients who reported visual field constriction on a central 30-2 Humphrey visual field chart. Using spectral domain-optical coherence tomography, central foveal thickness (CFT), ellipsoid zone (EZ) length, macular volume (MV), and submacular choroidal thickness (SMChT) were measured. A control cohort (68 eyes of 68 patients) was included for comparing the macular structure. Quantitative correlati...

Efficacy of Internal Limiting Membrane Flap Techniques with Vitrectomy for Macular Detachment Associated with an Optic Disc Pit
Conclusions: ILM flap techniques are logical and straightforward approaches as adjuvants to PPV treatment of ODP maculopathy. They could be viable adjuvant treatments for improvement in BCVA and CRT in patients with ODP maculopathy.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Effectiveness of Scleral Buckling with a Wide-Field Surgical Microscope and Chandelier Illumination in Retinal Detachment Repair
Conclusion: Scleral buckling with a wide-field surgical microscope and 27-G chandelier illumination has the advantage of offering exact identification of retinal tears and determination of the adequacy of buckle height and position in retinal detachment surgery compared to conventional scleral buckling surgery.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Microvascular Retinal and Choroidal Changes in Retinal Vein Occlusion Analyzed by Two Different Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Devices
Conclusion: OCTA suggests a retinal vascular impairment of DCP but no involvement of choroid in RVO eyes. A greater baseline SCT could be due to a choroidal exudation. OCTA imaged with PLEX ® Elite allowed to differentiate ischemic and non-ischemic patients at baseline.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)
