Longitudinal Microvascular Changes on Optical Coherence Tomographic Angiography after Macula-Off Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Repair Surgery
Conclusion: After macula-off RRD surgery, microvascular paramete rs were impaired after successful anatomical repair but recovered over 12 months. The PPV group exhibited significantly lower postoperative parafoveal vessel density than buckling group. (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Management of endophthalmitis with and without topical antibiotics : A case-control study
Purpose To compare the management outcome of endophthalmitis with and without the usage of topical antibiotics Methods Retrospective comparative chart review of two cohorts of endophthalmitis (other than those associated with open-globe injury, keratitis or wound site infection), one managed with (TA) and one without topical antibiotics (NTA). Results The study included a total of 270 eyes of 270 patients. Of these, 169 eyes were in the TA group and 101 eyes were in the NTA group. Males accounted for 56.8% and 53.8% respectively, p=0.59. Post cataract surgery was the commonest etiology accounting for 81.06% and 78.2% ...

Vascular Density and Retinal Function in patients with Retinitis Pigmentosa evaluated by swept-source OCT angiography and microperimetry
Purpose: To determine the retinal and choroidal vessel density in the macular area with OCT angiography (SS-OCTA) in patients affected by retinitis pigmentosa (RP), to compare their data with healthy subjects, and to study a possible morphofunctional correlation by microperimetry (MP1). Methods: 40 eyes of 40 patients affected by RP and 24 eyes of 24 healthy subjects were included in the study. Manually moving down the segmentation line of the SS-OCTA we have evaluated the vessel density for the superficial retinal plexus, deep retinal plexus, choriocapillaris and 3 levels of choroid. Results: Linear regression analyses ...

A 1-Year Prospective Comparative Study of Sutureless Flanged Intraocular Lens Fixation and Conventional Sutured Scleral Fixation in Intraocular Lens Dislocation
Conclusion: Sutured SF and flanged IOL fixation had similar visual outcomes and IOL stability in patients with IOL dislocation. However, the operating time for flanged IOL fixation was less than half that of the sutured SF. This technique is an efficient alternative for treating IOL dislocation.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Rebound Phenomenon after Intravitreal Injection of Triamcinolone Acetonide for Macular Edema
Conclusion: Our study shows that 9.7% of the eyes with ME secondary to DR and RVO developed a rebound phenomenon following IVTA injection, limiting its therapeutic effect. We found an increased number of prior intravitreal pharmacotherapy to be a risk factor for a rebound phenomenon.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Real-life data in the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration. Results from the I-maculaweb registry evaluated in a single Italian Medical Retina center
INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study is to assess and compare the long-term clinical efficacy of anti-VEGF drugs through the I-Maculaweb registry. METHODS: Observational study based on the I-Maculaweb registry. Outcomes measures were the number of injections, the change in mean visual acuity (VA) and central macular thickness (CMT) and the time between diagnosis and the first injection. RESULTS: Overall, 126 eyes of 109 patients were included in the study. The mean VA was 49.4 ± 21.4, 54.1 ± 22.2, 51.6 ± 24.9 and 48.3±25.7 letters, respectively at baseline and at 1, 2 and 3 years. A significant increase in VA (p=0.000...

Outcomes following Laser Retinopexy for Retinal Tears: A Comparative Study between Trainees and Specialists
Conclusions: Laser retinopexy is safely and effectively performed by residents, with no worse outcomes than procedures performed by specialists. A high rate of additional laser may be needed to achieve RD prophylaxis, and higher-risk cases can be identified at presentation and then referred to specialists.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

Alterations of Foveal Architecture during Vitrectomy for Myopic Retinoschisis Identified by Intraoperative Optical Coherence Tomography
Conclusions: The lack of alterations of the foveal architecture and significant improvements in the BCVA after FSIP indicate that FSIP peeling should be considered for eyes with retinoschisis. We recommend that iOCT be used to monitor the retinal architecture during intraocular surgery involving the retina.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)

The Comparison of Morphologic Characteristics of Type 1 and Type 2 Choroidal Neovascularization in Eyes with Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography
Conclusion: This study demonstrated that type 2 CNV was characterized by shorter duration of disease, smaller GVC, smaller GLD, and smaller flow area compared with type 1 CNV. Additionally, we showed that the duration of the disease correlated with GVC of the CNV.Ophthalmologica (Source: Ophthalmologica)
