Putative Anti-Immobility Action of Acute Insulin Is Attributable to an Increase in Locomotor Activity in Healthy Wistar Rats
Conclusion: These results indicate that insulin does not produce a true antidepressant action in healthy rats. The purported antidepressant effects that were observed were instead attributable to an increase in locomotor activity only in the 1-day regimen.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Serum Vitamins and Homocysteine Levels in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Vitamin and homocysteine (Hcy) alternations have been associated with psychiatric disorders. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the association of serum vitamin and Hcy levels with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Following PRISMA protocol, we used the databases including Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science with no time restriction. Data were pooled using a random-effects model and/or fixed-effects model to estimate the standard mean difference (SMD) for evaluation of the strength of association analyses. Our data showed a significant reduction in vitamin B12 (SMD = −0.58, 95% CI = −1.08 to ...

Stress Hormones as Predictors of Response to Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Panic Disorder
Conclusions: This study suggests that in acutely ill, medication-free PD patients, response to CBT may be associated with certain hormonal and clinical parameters at baseline.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Contingent Tunes of Neurochemical Ensembles in the Norm and Pathology: Can We See the Patterns?
Conclusion: This analysis demonstrates the possibility of constructivism-based unifying taxonomies of temperament (in the framework of the neurochemical model functional ensemble of temperament) and classifications of psychiatric disorders. Such taxonomies would present the biobehavioural individual differences as consistent behavioural patterns generated within a formally structured space of parameters related to the generation of behaviour.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

A Meta-Analysis of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor Effects on Brain Volume in Schizophrenia: Genotype and Serum Levels
Discussion: The meta-analyses provided evidence of associations between brain volume alterations in schizophrenia and variations on the Val66Met SNP and serum BDNF. Given the limited number of studies, it remains unclear if BDNF effects are global or regionally specific.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Between Temperament and Psychopathology: Examples from Neuropharmacological Challenge Tests in Healthy Humans
Conclusions: In spite of the flaws of pharmacological challenge tests, they may be suitable for demonstrating similarities in TM affinities between psychopathological disturbances and respective temperament traits and for separating sub-entities of larger disease spectra.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Opium Effect in Pregnancy on the Dynamics of Maternal Behavior: Testing a Neurochemical Model
Conclusion: Opium exposure during pregnancy in our experiment primarily reduced the endurance of rat ’s maternal behavior, but the speed of integration of behavioral acts was less affected. This negative impact of opium on endurance was associated with a decrease of BDNF and serotonin levels in the hippocampus and an increase in corticosterone level in opium-consuming mothers. There is no effect of opium exposure on self-grooming behavior. This pattern supports the FET hypothesis about the role of 5-HT and BDNF in endurance, differential regulation of endurance, integrative and emotionality aspects of behavior, and diffe...

Chromosome 22 Deletions and Suicidal Behavior in Schizophrenia
Conclusion: Although our results did not show a significant association between deletions on chromosome 22 and suicide attempt in schizophrenia, CNV studies may reveal important, novel insights and open further investigation for the treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Odour Retrieval Processing in Mice: Cholinergic Modulation of Oscillatory Coupling in Olfactory Bulb-Piriform Networks
Conclusion: The results suggest that the acquisition and formation of odour reference memory rely primarily on FC at the OB-PC network and confirm the role of muscarinic receptors in olfactory retrieval processing.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Working Memory Impairment as an Endophenotypic Marker in Patients with Schizophrenia: Failures in Encoding or Maintenance?
Conclusion: Our results indicate that WM impairment, including auditory-verbal and visuospatial modalities, corresponds to a stable feature of the disease as it is present in USs, thus confirming its potential endophenotypic property in SZ patients. No effect of the delayed response was observed, suggesting failures in encoding in both patients and USs.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Cardiovascular Autonomic Modulation during Metronomic Breathing and Stress Exposure in Patients with Borderline Personality Disorder
Conclusion: Our data show reduced cardiovascular autonomic modulation in BPD patients during resting state, psychophysiological relaxation, and stress exposure. The results indicate a vagal modulation deficit in this cohort. Breathing techniques, such as metronomic breathing, might be helpful to reduce stress and to increase vagal tone in BPD patients.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)

Sensory Processing Sensitivity Predicts Individual Differences in Resting-State Functional Connectivity Associated with Depth of Processing
Conclusions: The present study showed that SPS is associated with rs brain connectivity implicated in attentional control, consolidation of memory, physiological homeostasis, and deliberative cognition. These results support theories proposing “depth of processing” as a central feature of SPS and highlight the neural processes underlying this cardinal feature of the trait.Neuropsychobiology (Source: Neuropsychobiology)
