Cross-Sectional Analysis of Risk Factors for Outbreak of COVID-19 in Nursing Homes for Older Adults in the Community of Madrid
Conclusions: The size of the facility and the seroprevalence among residents in nursing homes, and the incidence of infections in the community, are associated with the risk of outbreaks of COVID-19. Facilities with greater proportion of seropositives had smaller number of cases. Monitoring of immunity in nursing homes may help detect those at a greater risk of future cases.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)

Feeling Younger, Rehabilitating Better: Reciprocal and Mediating Effects between Subjective Age and Functional Independence in Osteoporotic Fracture and Stroke Patients
Discussion: The findings highlight the effect of subjective age on rehabilitation outcomes among osteoporotic fractures and stroke patients and suggest several potential mechanisms behind this effect. Rehabilitation outcomes following osteoporotic fractures or strokes could improve if subjective age and an optimistic outlook are taken into consideration.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)

Mixed Evidence of an Association between Self-Rated Hearing Difficulties and Falls: Prospective Analysis of Two Longitudinal Studies
Conclusion: Though we find mixed results, findings from PATH data indicate an ordinal measure of self-reported hearing loss may be predictive of falls incidence in young-old adults. However, the null findings in the male-only CHAMP preclude firm conclusions of a link between hearing loss and falls risk.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)

Predictive Ability of Systemic Inflammation Response Index for the Risk of Pneumonia in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
Conclusion: SIRI showed a good predictive value for SAP. In clinical practice, AIS patients with high SIRI levels (SIRI ≥2.74) should be aware of the risk of SAP.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)

Sarcopenia as a Predictor of the Functional Outcome in Patients with Intracranial Aneurysms
Conclusions: Sarcopenia, represented by TMT and TMA, is associated with poorer functional results at discharge and 6-month follow-up in IA surgery. TMT below 6.25 mm was associated with unfavorable functional outcomes. These easily obtainable measurements may improve the decision-making process for patients with IAs.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)

Application of the New Preoperative Frailty Risk Score in Elderly Patients Undergoing Emergency Surgery
Conclusions: The OFRS using diagnostic and operation codes may show the best predictive performance for 90-day mortality compared to other risk scores, and it can be the clinically applicable model to evaluate the preoperative frailty risk in elderly patients undergoing emergency surgery.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)

Combined Effects of Diabetes and Education on Decline of Cognitive Performance in the Older Population: The Survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe
Conclusion: We have observed no interaction between education and diabetes on cognitive skills. Yet, people with diabetes and low education showed poor cognitive performance and should receive particular support in managing diabetes.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)

< b > < i > Nothobranchius furzeri, < /i > < /b > the Turquoise Killifish: A Model of Age-Related Osteoporosis?
Conclusion: Our finding of a lack of osteocytes is in agreement with the fact thatN. furzeri belongs to the evolutionarily advanced teleost fish. Furthermore, not only age-specific but also sex-specific differences were visible in the bone properties ofN. furzeri, which can be taken into consideration for the study of gender aspects of age-related musculoskeletal diseases.Gerontology (Source: Gerontology)
