Conclusions: A significantly higher proportion of asthma patients had post-COVID symptoms at 3 months after discharge, but were not accompanied by pulmonary dysfunction. Limitations of this study include the fact that the data were up to delta strain, and future studies should consider the impact of mutations and current treatment on sequelae. Smoking Cessation Practices in a Level 3 Irish Hospital
Smoking is a leading cause of respiratory morbidity and mortality(1). Hospitalization is an opportunity for smoking cessation. Referral to a cessation service, as recommended by NICE, is not available in our hospital.This cross-sectional study on medical inpatients occurred in December 2022. A questionnaire-based interview was applied which described patients’ smoking behaviour and cessation support to date. The impact of tax increases on tobacco use among medical faculty students
Conclusions: Only half of the smokers were affected by tax increases, and only one-fifth of those quit smoking. Some of the users had switched to rolled tobacco and smuggled products. Those with high economic status are less affected by taxes than those with poor economic status.
