Drip-and-Ship Model for Thrombectomy in Stroke Patients with Large-Vessel Occlusion
Conclusions: The “drip-and-ship” model has the potential to be a feasible model for patients with LVO in the anterior circulation to undergo endovascular treatment. Further large-scale prospective studies are warranted to confirm these findings.Eur Neurol (Source: European Neurology)

Increased Number of Perivascular CD20-Positive B Lymphocytes in the Neuropathology of CLIPPERS: Findings of 6 Patients from Mainland China
Conclusion: Our reports highlight the importance of neuropathological examinations when encountering atypical imaging manifestations, such as unilateral and large nodular Gd+ lesions, in order to establish a final diagnosis of CLIPPERS. In addition, the lymphocytic infiltration in the lesions of CLIPPERS may be dominated by CD20+ B cells instead of CD3+ T cells.Eur Neurol (Source: European Neurology)

The Potential of Neurofilament Light as a Biomarker in Alzheimer ’s Disease
Background: Alzheimer ’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive memory loss and cognitive impairment. In 2011, the National Institute on Aging and Alzheimer’s Association (NIA-AA) Research Framework has proposed to use biomarkers to diagnose AD in living persons. AD cor e biomarkers show high diagnostic specificity in distinguishing AD from healthy control subjects, but have little additional value for prognosis or stage of disease.Summary: With the update of detection methods and techniques, other AD biomarkers have been discovered. Neurofilament light (NFL) is currently...

Botulinum Toxin in WW2 German and Allied Armies: Failures and Myths of Weaponization
Botulinum toxin is nowadays approved as an effective medication for various neurological disorders. The extreme toxicity of this toxin-inducing botulism, a severe lethal muscle-paralyzing illness, has been well known since the seminal works of the end of the 19th century. Because of this toxicity, botulinum toxin was one of the first agents to be considered for use as a biological weapon. The Second World War was a crucial period for the first attempts to weaponize this toxin even if many unknown factors about botulinum toxin still existed at the outbreak of the war. Using documents from the British National Archives and o...

Association between Pre-Existing Coronary Artery Disease and 5-Year Mortality in Stroke Patients with High-Grade Carotid Artery Stenosis
Conclusion: Pre-existing CAD was associated with an increased risk of 5-year mortality in acute IS patients with high-grade CAS. Intensive treatment for the pre-existing CAD may reduce long-term mortality in acute IS patients with high-grade CAS.Eur Neurol (Source: European Neurology)

Stroke Care in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College during the COVID-19 Outbreak
Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has become a pandemic disease globally. The First Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College has adopted telestroke to make stroke care accessible in remote areas. During the period January 2020 to March 2020, there was no COVID-19 case reported in our stroke center. A significant reduction of stroke admission was observed between the ischemic stroke group (235 vs. 588 cases) and the intracerebral hemorrhage group (136 vs. 150 cases) when compared with the same period last year (p #x3c; 0.001). The mean door-to-needle time (DNT) and door-to-puncture time (DPT) was 62 and 124 min, res...

History of the Concept of Tuberculous Meningitis
This article reviews the writings in Scotland and France that marked the history of the identification of this infectious entity.
