Minor effect of inaccurate fixation on VEP-based acuity estimates
ConclusionVEP-based acuity estimates are relatively insensitive to eccentric fixation. Unnoticed deviations from central fixation in routine applications will probably be smaller than in the present study and will have even less impact on the outcome. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

Melanoma-associated retinopathy during pembrolizumab treatment probably controlled by intravitreal injections of dexamethasone
ConclusionWe report the first case of MAR with a positive outcome after 1  year of ICI, possibly thanks to intravitreal corticosteroid therapy. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

Characterising the orientation-specific pattern-onset visual evoked potentials in children with bilateral refractive amblyopia and non-amblyopic controls
ConclusionsThe osVEP waveforms are reliable and useful for future investigations into the meridional anisotropies in children with refractive amblyopia, particularly the C3 component. Component C1 had the poorest repeatability, which consequentially affected C2 amplitude estimation. Only C3 amplitude and latency could be consistently estimated as C2 and C3 latencies were similarly repeatable. Coefficients of repeatability of osVEP latencies did not appear to systematically differ between non-amblyopic and amblyopic children. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

A comparison of the Grass strobe and new LED photic stimulator for paediatric electroretinogram recordings
ConclusionA hand-held stimulator is essential when recording ERG ’s in the practice of paediatric visual electrophysiology. The LED-S can match the GP-S stimulus intensities, making it a potential replacement for the GP-S. In addition, the LED-S has uniform intensity across the surface of the device compared to the GP-S, is silent for standard stimuli and can g enerate prolonged duration stimuli for the recording of on–off ERGs. The influence of mild cataract on ISCEV standard electroretinogram recorded from mydriatic eyes
ConclusionsCataractous lens removal and intraocular lens implantation may influence ISCEV standard ERGs, even if the cataract is relatively mild. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

Case report: Unilateral optic nerve aplasia and developmental hemi-chiasmal dysplasia with VEP misrouting
ConclusionThis infant has chiasmal misrouting in association with unilateral optic nerve aplasia and unilateral microphthalmos. Chiasmal misrouting has not been found in patients with microphthalmos or anophthalmos, but has been reported after early eye loss in animal models. Our findings contribute to our understanding of the discrepancy between the visual pathway physiology of human unilateral microphthalmia and animal models. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

Evolution of macular hole in enhanced S-cone syndrome
ConclusionThis case illustrates that the clinical evolution of FTMH in ESCS may be progressive and likely involves degeneration and intraretinal, rather than vitreoretinal, traction. This should be kept in mind when considering surgical intervention in these cases. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

Case of lens-induced uveitis associated with supernormal flicker ERG amplitudes after cataract surgery
ConclusionOur case of lens-induced uveitis had supernormal flicker ERG amplitudes. Clinicians should be aware that eyes with uveitis can have larger-than-normal ERG amplitudes. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

Pattern-onset and OFFset visual evoked potentials in the diagnosis of hemianopic field defects
ConclusionOur findings show how extending the recording time window to include an OFFset VEP facilitates identification of hemianopic visual field defects. We advocate the pattern-onset/OFFset VEP in the assessment of patients with hemianopia, having particular value for patients who are otherwise unable to perform more demanding half-field electrophysiology, imaging or psychophysical testing. Photopic negative response using a handheld mini-ganzfeld stimulator in healthy adults: normative values, intra- and inter-session variability
ConclusionsThe normative values provided by this study are clinically helpful in the diagnosis of inner retinal disorders, especially those affecting retinal ganglion cells such as glaucoma and other optic neuropathies. Further studies, including a larger sample with variable age range would extend the validity of the current results. (Source: Documenta Ophthalmologica)

ISCEV extended protocol for VEP methods of estimation of visual acuity
AbstractThe International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) standard for visual evoked potentials (VEPs) describes a minimum procedure for clinical VEP testing and encourages more extensive testing. This ISCEV extended protocol is an extension to the VEP standard. It describes procedures for recording multiple VEPs to a range of sizes of pattern stimuli to establish the VEP spatial frequency limit (threshold) and for relating this limit to visual acuity.
