Pathologic complete response in patients with esophageal cancer receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy or chemoradiation: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis
ConclusionsUnder one-third of patients with esophageal cancer who receive neoadjuvant chemo(radiation) experience pCR. Patients diagnosed with squamous cell carcinomas had higher rates of pCR than those with adenocarcinomas. As pCR represents an increasingly utilized endpoint in neoadjuvant trials, these estimates of pooled pCR rates may serve as an important benchmark for future trial design. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Mannitol versus furosemide in patients with thoracic malignancies who received cisplatin ‐based chemotherapy using short hydration: A randomized phase II trial
ConclusionsMannitol should remain the standard diuresis in CDDP-based chemotherapy assessed by conventional CTCAE grading, but furosemide can be room for consideration when assessed by actual serum Cr level and Cr clearance. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Quercetin ‐induced degradation of RhoC suppresses hepatocellular carcinoma invasion and metastasis
ConclusionsOur research has revealed the novel mechanisms quercetin regulates degradation of RhoC level by targeting SMURF2 and identified quercetin may be a potential compound for HCC therapy. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Why is end ‐of‐life inpatient cost high among cancer patients? A prospective cohort study
ConclusionsFindings suggest that inpatient costs in last year of life may be reduced if maintenance care is availed in low-cost settings such as hospice/palliative care alongside steps to reduce non-beneficial surgeries and ICU admissions. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Prescribing pre ‐ and post‐operative physical activity interventions for people undergoing breast cancer surgery: A qualitative systematic review
ConclusionPre- and post-operative physical activity interventions were well-accepted. Patients recognised factors which promoted or prevented engagement with interventions, as well as pre- and post-operative physical and psychological benefits that arose as a result. Evidence based co-design studies may further inform successful implementation of prescribed physical activity into standard care for surgical breast cancer patients. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Clinicopathological and genomic features of superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinomas in nondrinker, nonsmoker females
ConclusionOlder nondrinker, nonsmoker females with RE and fewer multiple LVLs may develop longitudinal 0-IIa ESCC with keratinization of the posterior wall of the mid-thoracic esophagus. ESCCs in nondrinker, nonsmoker females had fewerKMT2D alterations and moreCDKN2A alterations, which may be a biomarker for treatment. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

The generation of glioma organoids and the comparison of two culture methods
ConclusionThe success rates of the Matrigel and microtumor methods were 45.5% and 60.5%, respectively. The microtumor method had a higher success rate, shorter establishment time, more convenient passage and cryopreservation methods, better simulation of the cellular and histological characteristics of the parent tumor, and a high genetic guarantee. Psoas muscle area is an independent survival prognosticator in patients undergoing surgery for long ‐bone metastases
ConclusionsDecreased PMA on CT is associated with worse survival in surgically treated patients with extremity metastases, even after controlling for three contemporary SPAs. Physicians should consider the additional prognostic value of PMA on survival in patients undergoing consideration for operative management due to extremity metastases. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Clinical utility of the Oncomine Dx Target Test multi ‐CDx system and the possibility of utilizing those original sequence data
ConclusionEven if sufficient tumor samples are obtained, rareEGFR mutations (which are excluded from the ODxTT's genetic mutation list) might not be detected using the current ODxTT system due to the program used for sequence analysis. However, such rareEGFR mutations can still be accurately detected on ODxTT's sequence data using next-generation sequencing. (Source: Cancer Medicine)
