Secondary bladder and colorectal cancer after treatments for prostate cancer: A population based study
ConclusionsCompared to PCa patients undergoing RP, the secondary bladder cancer was associated with EBRT, ADT, alone or in combination. The secondary colorectal cancer was also associated with receiving either EBRT, BT or ADT. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Racial disparities in the relationship of regional socioeconomic status and colorectal cancer survival in the five regions of Georgia
ConclusionsBlack patients demonstrated lower CRC survival rates in Georgia compared to their White counterparts. White patients living in regions with persistent poverty, and Black patients living in regions with low education had an increased risk of CRC death. Our findings provide important evidence to all relevant stakeholders in allocating health resources aimed at CRC early detection and prevention and timely referral for CRC treatment by considering the patient's regional SES in Georgia. Clinical and genetic characteristics predict outcomes of acute myeloid leukemia patients with FLT3 mutations receiving venetoclax ‐based therapy
ConclusionsFLT3 mutations may influence response to VEN-based therapy in R/R AML patients but not in ND AML patients. Furthermore, clinical and genetic characteristics could predict outcomes of FLT3mut patients receiving VEN-based therapy. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

PIEZO1 is essential for the survival and proliferation of acute myeloid leukemia cells
ConclusionsAltogether, our results reveal a new role for PIEZO1 mechanosensing in the survival and proliferation of leukemic blasts, which could pave the way for new therapeutic strategies to target AML cells. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Feasible diet and circadian interventions reduce in  vivo progression of FLT3‐ITD‐positive acute myeloid leukemia
ConclusionsMouse models for FLT3-ITD AML show that diet composition and timing slows progression of FLT3-ITD AML growth in  vivo, potentially mediated by BMAL1. These interventions to enhance therapy efficacy show preliminary feasibility, as pediatric leukemia patients responded favorable to preparation of macronutrient matched meals. Dickkopf 1 is expressed in normal fibroblasts during early stages of colorectal tumorigenesis
ConclusionThese findings contribute valuable insights into the early stages of colorectal tumorigenesis and suggestDKK1 as a tumor suppressor. Additionally, serum DKK1 levels could serve as a biomarker to identify both cancer and adenoma, offering diagnostic possibilities for early-stage colon tumors. The present study has a few limitations. We considered using DKK1 as a candidate gene for gene transfer to organoids and NFs; however, it was difficult due to technical problems and the slow growth rate of NFs. Therefore, we used cancer cell lines instead. In addition, immunostaining and ELISA were based on the short-term coll...

Mitochondrial dynamics as a novel treatment strategy for triple ‐negative breast cancer
ConclusionOur findings indicated that the interplay between mitophagy, linked to a worse clinical prognosis, and OXPHOS metabolism promoted chemotherapy resistance in TNBC. Mitochondrial fission is prevalent in TNBC. These findings suggest that targeting the unique mitochondrial metabolism and dynamics in TNBC may offer a novel therapeutic strategy for patients with TNBC. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer: Pathologic response rates but not tumor size, has an independent prognostic impact on survival
ConclusionAchievement of pCR, but not tumor size (pretreatment cT category), has an independent prognostic impact on survival. These results suggest potential NAC benefits in patients with small tumors (<2  cm), even in absence of clinically suspicious lymph nodes. Residual lymph node disease after NAC is the most powerful adverse prognostic factor. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Comparative survival analysis of bladder preservation therapy versus radical cystectomy in muscle ‐invasive bladder cancer
ConclusionIn Asian populations, bladder preservation therapy yielded similar survival outcomes as radical cystectomy in MIBC patients. Based on the results, it is evident that a multidisciplinary approach and shared decision-making are recommended for bladder cancer treatment. (Source: Cancer Medicine)
