Efficacy and safety of atezolizumab plus bevacizumab in patients with portal hypertension for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma
ConclusionsNo significant differences in efficacy and safety were observed with PH. Prophylactic treatment for varices before the start of Atezo + Beva would allow treatment to continue relatively safely. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Anatomic versus non ‐anatomic liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma—A European multicentre cohort study in cirrhotic and non‐cirrhotic patients
ConclusionNo significant differences on RFS and OS rates could be observed. Post-operative complications were significantly less frequent in the ALR group while liver specific complications were comparable between both groups. Subgroup analysis showed no significant influence of cirrhosis on the post-operative outcome of these patients. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Nomogram for predicting pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
ConclusionsFemale, earlier cN stage, duration of nCRT (<  62 days), chemotherapy regimen of taxane plus platinum, pre-nCRT NLR (≥2.199), and pre-nCRT PLR (≥99.302) were significantly associated with a higher pCR in ESCC patients whose primary chemotherapy was a taxane-based regimen for nCRT. A nomogram was developed and internally validated, showi ng good accuracy and consistency. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Glycemic traits and colorectal cancer survival in a cohort of South Korean patients: A Mendelian randomization analysis
ConclusionsOur results suggest that FG and HbA1c could be used to predict prognosis in CRC patients. Lifestyle and/or pharmacological interventions targeting glycemic traits could help improve survival for CRC patients. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Clinical value of endoscopic ultrasound sound speed in differential diagnosis of pancreatic solid lesion and prognosis of pancreatic cancer
ConclusionsSS plays a vital role in distinguishing between PBL and PC. Higher SS1 and ratio1 obtained by EUS are more related to PC than PBL. In PC patients, high SS1 may predict pancreatic lesions. In the nonsurgical group of PC, low ratio1 may predict high OS. However, in the surgical group of PC, low SS1 may predict low OS. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Global burden, risk factors, and trends of non ‐Hodgkin lymphoma: A worldwide analysis of cancer registries
ConclusionsThis study indicates a rising trend of NHL incidence over the past decade- particularly in developed countries, older males, and younger populations. Further research should investigate deeper insights into specific etiology and prognosis of NHL across subtypes, and potential contributors towards these epidemiologic trends. Urban relatives ameliorate survival disparities for genitourinary cancer in rural patients
ConclusionsOur findings suggest rural patients who have been diagnosed with a genitourinary cancer have improved survival when having relatives in urban centers relative to rural patients without urban relatives. Further research is needed to better understand the mechanisms through which having an urban family member contributes to improved cancer outcomes for rural patients. Better characterization of this affect may help inform policies to reduce urban –rural cancer disparities. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Comprehensive analysis indicated that NDE1 is a potential biomarker for pan ‐cancer and promotes bladder cancer progression
ConclusionHigh expression of NDE1 is present in a variety of tumours, which is linked to a bad prognosis for cancer. Knockdown of NDE1 inhibited the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of bladder cancer cells, and promoted the apoptosis. For a number of malignancies, NDE1 may be a biomarker for immunotherapy and prognosis. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Survival of the Hmong population diagnosed with colon and rectal cancers in the United States
ConclusionsHmong individuals are nearly a decade younger at the time of diagnosis of CRC compared to the NHW individuals. However, these data do not suggest an association between Hmong ethnicity and overall survival, when compared to the NHW population. (Source: Cancer Medicine)
