Implication of m6A Methylation Regulators in the Immune Microenvironment of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
Biochem Genet. 2024 Feb 23. doi: 10.1007/s10528-024-10664-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTN6-methyladenosine (m6A) regulates gene expression and governs many important biological processes. However, the function of m6A in the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) remains poorly characterized. Thus, the purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the effects of m6A RNA methylation regulators on the development of BPD. BPD-related transcriptome data were downloaded from the GEO database. Differentially expressed m6A methylation regulators between BPD and control group were identified. Consensus clustering was co...

Analysis of the Molecular Mechanism of Xueshuantong in the Treatment of Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Using GEO Datasets, Network Pharmacology, and Molecular Docking
In this study, it was confirmed that Xueshuantong could inhibit wet AMD by targeting VEGF, TNF, TLR4, and AKT1, multichannel HIF-1, and the PI3K-AKT pathway, which further proved the therapeutic effects of Xueshuantong combined with single anti-VEGF therapy on wet AMD and provided new insights into the study of novel molecular drug targets for the treatment of wet AMD.PMID:38383835 | DOI:10.1007/s10528-023-10654-9 (Source: Biochemical Genetics)

Exploring Prognostic Gene Factors in Breast Cancer via Machine Learning
Biochem Genet. 2024 Feb 21. doi: 10.1007/s10528-024-10712-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBreast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer in women. To date, its underlying molecular mechanisms have not been fully uncovered. The determination of gene factors is important to improve our understanding on breast cancer, which can correlate the specific gene expression and tumor staging. However, the knowledge in this regard is still far from complete. Thus, this study aimed to explore these knowledge gaps by analyzing existing gene expression profile data from 3149 breast cancer samples, where each sample was represented by t...

Molecular Identification and Characterization of Hevein Antimicrobial Peptide Genes in Two-Row and Six-Row Cultivars of Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)
Biochem Genet. 2024 Feb 22. doi: 10.1007/s10528-024-10695-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHeveins are one of the most important groups of plant antimicrobial peptides. So far, various roles in plant growth and development and in response to biotic and abiotic stresses have reported for heveins. The present study aimed to identify and characterize the hevein genes in two-row and six-row cultivars of barley. In total, thirteen hevein genes were identified in the genome of two-row and six-row cultivars of barley. The identified heveins were identical in two-row and six-row cultivars of barley and showed a high similarity wit...

Analysis of the Genomic Sequences and Metabolites of Bacillus velezensis YA215
In this study, YA215 genome was sequenced by the Illumina HiSeq + PacBio sequencing platform. Genome assembly was performed by Unicycler software and the gene clusters responsible for secondary metabolite biosynthesis were predicted by antiSMASH. The genome comprised 3976514 bp and had a 46.56% G + C content. 3809 coding DNA sequences, 27 rRNAs, 86 tRNAs genes, and 79 sRNA were predicted. Strain YA215 was re-identified as Bacillus velezensis based on ANI and OrthoANI analysis. In the COG database, 23 functional groups from 3090 annotations were predicted. In the GO database, 2654 annotations were predicted. 2486 KEGG annot...

The CDK4/6 Inhibitor Palbociclib Induces Cell Senescence of High-grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Through Acetylation of p53
In conclusion, Palbociclib induced cell senescence of HGSOC through P300-mediated p53 acetylation, suggesting that Palbociclib may have the effect of treating HGSOC.PMID:38388849 | DOI:10.1007/s10528-024-10704-w (Source: Biochemical Genetics)

NAIP Gene Deletion and SMN2 Copy Number as Molecular Tools in Predicting the Severity of Spinal Muscular Atrophy
This study was directed to elucidate the molecular assessment of NAIP and SMN genomic alterations as a useful tool in predicting the severity of SMA among patients. This study included 65 SMA pediatric patients (30 type I and 35 type II) and 65 healthy controls. RFLP-PCR was employed to determine the genetic polymorphisms of the SMN1, SMN2, and NAIP genes. In addition, qRT-PCR was used to identify the expression of the SMN1 and SMN2 genes, and serum levels of creatine kinase were measured using a colorimetric method. DNA sequencing was performed on some samples to detect any single nucleotide polymorphisms in SMN1, SMN2, a...
