Modeling predonation testing strategies in platelet donations - Approach from low throughput apheresis blood center from India
Conclusion: Strategy-3 appears cost-effective but requires regulatory changes in the Indian setting. Testing apheresis procedures using Strategy 2 had greater cost recovery, and also prevents infectious donations and thereby enhances blood safety with the present guidelines. Reporting transfusion-related acute lung injury cases
Conclusion: The rate of TRALI reported to our blood bank was found to be 0.02%, which is very low as compared to international data. Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn due to multiple alloantibodies in pregnancy
We report the case of Hemolytic disease of fetus and newborn (HDFN) due to anti-E and anti-Fya antibody. Blood grouping was done using the conventional tube technique. Rh and Kell phenotyping of the patient and her husband performed by column agglutination and Duffy phenotyping were done by the conventional tube technique. We report a case of a 64-year-old female from Bahrain, a known case of hepatitis C-related ESLD referred for LT surgery. She had a history of multiple uneventful transfusions in the preceding year.
