Expression of genes and enzymes involved in ovarian steroidogenesis in relation to human follicular development
This study aims to explore the expression patterns of key enzymes that govern human ovarian steroidogenesis throughout follicle development, employing both genomic and immunological methodologies. MethodsFollicles and GCs obtained from women undergoing ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) and in vitro fertilisation treatment were utilized. Gene expression data were obtained from a Chinese study using RNA sequencing and from microarray data generated in our laboratory to comprehensively analyse gene expression profiles across distinct stages of follicular development. To corroborate the localisation of key enzymes within G...

Current status of fertility preservation in a Spanish tertiary public hospital: multidisciplinary approach and experience in over 1500 patients
CONCLUSIONS: The increase in FP treatment reflects the implementation of reproductive counselling in oncology programmes. A multidisciplinary approach in a tertiary public hospital allows individualised FP treatment for each patient. In recent years, there has been a change in trend with the introduction of new indications for FP and a change in techniques due to their optimisation.PMID:37872422 | DOI:10.1007/s12094-023-03330-2 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Initiating luteal phase support with sc progesterone based on low serum progesterone on the transfer day in true natural cycle frozen embryo transfers
This study indicates that nearly half of the tNC-FETs may need luteal phase support due to low progesterone. However, 25 mc sc progesterone rescued the luteal support and yielded similar OPR as compared to normal progesterone group. Further studies are needed for understanding optimal progesterone levels, supplementation effectiveness, and potential benefits of earlier supplementation in FETs. Subcortical bruising in the preterm infant
A cranial ultrasound (CUS) was performed on day 2 of a 27-week, 3-day gestational age newborn, with no external clinical signs or history of trauma during delivery nor concerns of significant thrombocytopenia or coagulopathy, prompted by acute drop in haematocrit (from 17.5 to 11.4 g/dL). Perinatal history was significant for in vitro fertilisation pregnancy, cervical cerclage, pregestational diabetes mellitus, gestational hypertension and premature prolonged membrane rupture, followed by a course of betamethasone and magnesium sulfate, then delivery by stat section for prolapsed cord. Resuscitation was uneventful except f...

The association between preterm births and assisted reproductive technologies
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the differences between ART-treated mothers according to the conception method are due mainly to the structural differences between mothers. When controlling for the covariates (Cox regression model), no significant differences were observed concerning the risk of preterm births for women who underwent fresh IVF, FET and OoR.PMID:37799004 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2023.039 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)
