Female genital cosmetic surgery in Indonesia: a qualitative analysis of medical advertising on Instagram
Cult Health Sex. 2024 Apr 22:1-14. doi: 10.1080/13691058.2024.2341843. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTResearch on female genital cosmetic surgery usually comes from Anglophone countries. We investigated female genital cosmetic surgery in the predominantly Muslim South-East Asian country of Indonesia, aiming to identify the procedures offered by medical clinics on Instagram, how they are justified, and what they claim to achieve; and to understand what this means for women and their bodies. The 184 eligible posts from 19 clinics between 1 January to 31 March 2021 offered vaginoplasty, labiaplasty, hymenoplasty, and other pro...

Continuum of care in maternal and child health in Indonesia
CONCLUSION: Complete CoC with improved, affordable, and accessible MCH care services has the potential to accelerate the progress of Sustainable Development Goal 3 by reducing maternal and childhood mortality risks. Our findings show that in Indonesia, the CoC continuously declines as women proceed from ANC to other MCH services, with a sharp decline observed after four ANC visits. Our study has identified key socioeconomic characteristics of women and children that increase their probability of failing to access care.PMID:38639004 | DOI:10.1017/S1463423624000094 (Source: Primary Care)

South East Asian Nutrition Surveys (SEANUTS) II - a multi-country evaluation of nutrition and lifestyle indicators in children aged 12 years and below: Rationale and Design
CONCLUSIONS: The results will provide up-to-date insights into nutritional status and lifestyle behaviours of children in the four countries. Subsequently, these data will facilitate exploration of potential gaps in dietary intake among Southeast Asian children and enable local authorities to plan future nutrition and lifestyle intervention strategies.PMID:38639132 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980024000910 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Gene expression profiling of vitamin D metabolism enzymes in leukemia and lymphoma patients: molecular aspect interplay of VDR, CYP2R1, and CYP24A1
CONCLUSION: The study revealed a noteworthy difference in VDR protein levels between men and women. The highest mean CYP24A1 protein levels were observed in the age group > 60 years. This study found a significant, moderately positive correlation between VDR protein levels and CYP24A1 protein levels in the male and vitamin D sufficiency groups. In addition, a significant positive correlation was found between VDR mRNA levels and CYP2R1 mRNA levels, VDR mRNA levels and CYP2R1 mRNA levels, and CYP2R1 mRNA levels and CYP24A1 mRNA levels. However, the expression of these genes does not correlate with the protein levels of i...

Evaluating the Feasibility of a Guided Culturally Adapted Internet-Delivered Mindfulness Intervention for Indonesian University Students Experiencing Psychological Distress
ConclusionsThis study suggested that a counsellor-guided culturally adapted internet-based mindfulness intervention was feasible, acceptable, and associated with improvements in psychological distress, well-being, and mindfulness among university students in Indonesia. A randomized controlled trial with follow-up is needed to evaluate the intervention ’s effectiveness.PreregistrationThis trial was preregistered on the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trial Registry (ACTRN12620000135910). Existential Well-Being in Nature: A Cross-Cultural and Descriptive Phenomenological Approach
AbstractExploring the putative role of nature in human well-being has typically been operationalized and measured within a quantitative paradigm of research. However, such approaches are limited in the extent to which they can capture the full range of how natural experiences support well-being. The aim of the study was to explore personal experiences in nature and consider how they might be important to human health and well-being. Based on a descriptive phenomenological analysis of fifty descriptions of memorable moments in nature from England, Indonesia, and Norway, our findings illustrate a common structure presented u...

Inequalities in women ’s health insurance coverage before and after the implementation of universal health insurance in Indonesia
AbstractIndonesia implemented a National Social Security System (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional, JKN) in 2014. To examine the changes in the magnitude of socioeconomic inequity in women's health insurance coverage among those of reproductive age, we conducted a repeated cross-sectional study design using data from the Indonesia Demographic and Health Surveys conducted in 2012 and 2017, before and after the implementation of JKN. Results showed that while the JKN program helped to increase health insurance coverage among Indonesian women of childbearing age, low education level and household wealth status were associated with a...
