Septal Microsphere Embolization in Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy
Alcohol septal ablation is an established treatment for selected patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOT). The safety and efficacy of septal microsphere embolization (SME) have not been studied. We conducted a retrospective analysis of SME procedures performed at our center from 2006 to 2021 using 75- µm microspheres. The primary end point was LVOT gradient reduction. Secondary outcomes included periprocedural mortality, conduction disturbances, access site complications, and duration of hospitalization. (Source: The American Journal of Cardiology)

The lncRNA ADAMTS9-AS1/miR-185-5p/KAT7 ceRNA network inhibits cardiomyocyte hypertrophy in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
This study was conducted to explore the role of lncRNA ADAMTS9 antisense RNA 1 (ADAMTS9-AS1) in HOCM-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. The serum of HOCM patients was collected. AC16 cells were treated with isoproterenol (ISO) and transfected with oe-ADAMTS9-AS1 vector, miR-185-5p mimic, and lysine acetyltransferase 7 (KAT7) specific small interfering RNA. lncRNA ADAMTS9-AS1, miR-185-5p, KAT7, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in the serum or cells were determine by qRT-PCR or Western blot assay. Cell surface area was observed by Texas Red-Phalloidin staining. Subcellular localization of...

Outcomes of concomitant surgical ablation in patients undergoing surgical myectomy for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Studies investigating the efficacy of concomitant surgical atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) patients undergoing myectomy are scarce and limited in terms of sample size. We aim to summarize current outcomes of concomitant surgical AF ablation in HOCM patients undergoing surgical myectomy. (Source: International Journal of Cardiology)

Volume-outcome relationship in septal myectomy for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
Septal myectomy is the gold standard treatment for refractory hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. The present study characterized the association of septal myectomy volume and cardiac surgery volume with outcomes after septal myectomy. (Source: Surgery)

Evaluation and implications of mitral regurgitation using cMRI in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
CONCLUSIONS: cMRI can accurately assess MR in patients with HCM, especially by using novel indicators, MRV and MRF respectively, along with LAV index and E/E' ratio. Severe MR, due to SAM, is more frequent in the obstructive form of HCM (HOCM). Also, the severity of MR is significantly associated with significantly associated with MRV, MRF, LAV index and E/E' ratio.PMID:37203824 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202305_32306 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)
