The pathogenesis is unique in that the maternal tumor arises from pregnancy tissue. In terms of occurrence, it mainly affects women of reproductive age. In our case report, a 53-year-old female patient was diagnosed with molar pregnancy as the background of her perimenopausal bleeding disorder. Mola is a high-risk disease because the symptoms can be deceiving and may be very similar to those of an incomplete miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or perimenopausal b...

Gestational trophoblastic disease: an update
AbstractGestational trophoblastic diseases (GTD) encompass a spectrum of rare  pre-malignant and malignant entities originating from trophoblastic tissue. This updated review will highlight important radiological features, pathology and classification, and provide insight into the clinical management of these uncommon disorders. There is a wide geographic variation with the incidence of hydatidiform mole varying between 0.57 and 2 per 1000 pregnancies. The use of ultrasound (US) in the management of early pregnancy symptoms and complications has positively impacted the earlier detection of these diseases and resulted in...

Presentation, medical complications and development of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia of hydatidiform mole after intracytoplasmic sperm injection as compared to hydatidiform mole after spontaneous conception - a retrospective cohort study and literature review
CONCLUSIONS: Singleton HM after ICSI are diagnosed earlier in gestation, present with fewer medical complications, and may be less likely to develop GTN when compared with HM after SC.PMID:36706644 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.01.016 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Treatment of Hydatidiform Mole Suspected to COVID 19
Adv Biomed Res. 2022 Nov 28;11:105. doi: 10.4103/abr.abr_142_21. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to report a case of the treatment of hydatidiform mole in Coronavirus pandemic in Iranshahr. A 17-year-old primiparous woman with gestational age of 14 weeks presented with unilateral leg swelling and sudden abdominal distension beginning in the night before referring to the health center. In the abdominal examination of the patient by a healthcare provider, the baby's heartbeat was not heard and a mismatch was observed between gestational age and fundal height, which corresponded to approximately 24 weeks of...

Intrauterine hydatidiform mole complicated with tubal ectopic pregnancy: a case report
Women Health. 2023 Jan 15:1-5. doi: 10.1080/03630242.2022.2164111. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHeterotopic pregnancies are rare pathological pregnancy disorders in clinical practice. However, the number of cases has increased with the widespread use of ovulation induction drugs in recent years. The clinical manifestations of heterotrophic pregnancies are diverse and easy to missed or misdiagnosed. A 33-year-old married Gravida1 Para 0 + 0 patient was admitted on December 8, 2020 with intermittent abdominal pain 18 days after uterine curettage for complete hydatidiform mole of 8 weeks gestation. She had ovulation-promotin...

The effect of prophylactic chemotherapy on treatment outcome of postmolar gestational trophoblastic neoplasia
CONCLUSIONS: P-chem delayed the time to GTN diagnosis, but didn't increase risk score or lead to drug resistance of postmolar GTN. Alternative agent different from P-chem had the potential of enhancing chemotherapy response in low- risk postmolar GTN.PMID:36593459 | DOI:10.1186/s12905-022-02134-w (Source: Cancer Control)
