ASO Author Reflections: High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound will Become the Routine Practice for Treatment of Localized Prostate Cancer
Ann Surg Oncol. 2023 Sep 25. doi: 10.1245/s10434-023-14297-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPAST: Most prostate cancers are slow growing and are often diagnosed at an old age, which may result in treatment never being needed. However, definitive treatments such as radical prostatectomy and radiation therapy are often associated with many serious adverse effects, harming the physical and mental health of patients. PRESENT: In recent years, different types of minimally invasive therapy have been developed to achieve cancer control, continence, and even potency preservation, such as high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). H...

Non-invasive Body Contouring Technologies: An Updated Narrative Review
ConclusionIn order to help physicians with finding the best evidence in different methods, the data were summarised in 11 topics. Furthermore, FDA-approved devices, side effects and common protocols were described in each section.Level of Evidence IThis journal requires that authors 39 assign a level of evidence to each article. Ultrasound-guided ablation techniques for thyroid lesions
Laryngorhinootologie. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.1055/a-2144-4132. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTUltrasound-guided ablation techniques have been increasingly introduced into routine treatment of thyroid lesions as a complement to existing surgical therapies and radioiodine treatment. In cystic or predominantly cystic lesions instillation therapy (ethanol/polidocanol ablation) has yielded good results. Novel thermal ablation techniques, including radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), laser ablation (LA) and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), induce irreversible cellular effects by locally applying temper...

Experimental study of HIFU incomplete ablation on the damage effect and prognosis of rabbit VX2 breast cancer model
CONCLUSIONS: HIFU incomplete ablation, with an 80% tumor ablation rate, induces substantial tumor damage, augments tumor cell apoptosis, and triggers an anti-tumor immune response, curtailing metastasis. These insights may underpin further investigations into the therapeutic implications of HIFU incomplete ablation.PMID:37726101 | DOI:10.1080/02656736.2023.2255760 (Source: International Journal of Hyperthermia)

Clinical efficacy and safety analysis of different treatment options for Cervical pregnancy
CONCLUSION: Our results showed that hysteroscopic curettage, HIFU, and UAE followed by hysteroscopic curettage are safe and effective for treating patients with CP. Compared with the UAE, HIFU has the advantages of lower hospitalization costs, shorter hospital stays, and shorter menstrual recovery intervals.PMID:37699591 | DOI:10.1080/02656736.2023.2255757 (Source: International Journal of Hyperthermia)

Comparison of menstruation recovery after ultrasound-guided suction curettage in patients with cesarean scar pregnancy pretreated using high-intensity focused ultrasound and uterine artery embolization
CONCLUSION: Compared to UAE, HIFU has less influence on postoperative MBL volume, which may be a fertility-sparing option for patients with CSP.PMID:37698065 | DOI:10.1080/02656736.2023.2241686 (Source: International Journal of Hyperthermia)
