Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 5067: The Effect of Altitude on Phenolic, Antioxidant and Fatty Acid Compositions of Some Turkish Hazelnut (Coryllus avellana L.) Cultivars
This study suggests that the responses of hazelnuts to altitude depend on the cultivar; hence, a proper approach to producing nuts containing more phenolic, fatty acids, and antioxidant activity includes choosing a suitable cultivar for a specific elevation. (Source: Molecules)

Self-cleaning and photocatalytic properties of eco-friendly clay-based facing bricks from industrial and natural wastes
In this study, self-cleaning and photocatalytic performance of clay-based facing bricks produced using two different wastes (red mud: RM, hazelnut shell: HS) under visible light by an organic pollutant, methylene blue (MB), were discussed. The results revealed that the incorporation of waste into the samples improved the photocatalytic activity for certain ratios and also provided the desired physical properties according to the relevant standards. In terms of self-cleaning performance, the best results were obtained from the samples containing 5% RM (RM5HS) and 10% RM (RM10HS) combined with 10% of HS by weight. While RM10...

Sensitization to nsLTP: A Retrospective Study in An Italian Pediatric Population over the Last Decade
CONCLUSIONS: The latest evidence in the literature indicates an increase in food allergy prevalence in the general population, including children. Therefore, the present survey represents an interesting perspective about the pediatric population of the Mediterranean area, exploring the trend of LTP allergy.PMID:37228443 | PMC:PMC10205406 | DOI:10.1155/2023/4053799 (Source: Journal of Immunology Research)

Viruses, Vol. 15, Pages 1221: Global Population Structure of Apple Mosaic Virus (ApMV, Genus Ilarvirus)
antosa The gene sequence data for apple mosaic virus (ApMV) in NCBI GenBank were analyzed to determine the phylogeny and population structure of the virus at a global level. The phylogenies of the movement protein (MP) and coat protein (CP) genes, encoded by RNA3, were shown to be identical and consisted of three lineages but did not closely correlate with those of P1 and P2, suggesting the presence of recombinant isolates. Recombination Detection Program (RDP v.4.56) detected significant recombination signal in the P1 region of K75R1 (KY883318) and Apple (HE574162) and the P2 region of Apple (HE574163) and CITH GD (MN...

Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 4248: Detection of Hazelnut and Almond Adulteration in Olive Oil: An Approach by qPCR
ega Virgin olive oil (VOO), characterized by its unique aroma, flavor, and health benefits, is subject to adulteration with the addition of oils obtained from other edible species. The consumption of adulterated olive oil with nut species, such as hazelnut or almond, leads to health and safety issues for consumers, due to their high allergenic potential. To detect almond and hazelnut in olive oil, several amplification systems have been analyzed by qPCR assay with a SYBR Green post-PCR melting curve analysis. The systems selected were Cora1F2/R2 and Madl, targeting the genes coding the allergenic protein Cor a 1 (hazel...
