TRPV1 and Migraines
Conclusion-the present findings indicate that insulin may activate TRPV1 receptors in the trigeminovascular system. Modified TRPV1 receptor function induced by insulin may also increase the sensitivity of both neural and vascular TRPV1 receptor for its agonists. Our data may provide a pathophysiological basis for the increased incidence of migraine in patients with hyperinsulin levels. (Source: Neuromics)

Trigeminal Neuralgia (Facial Pain)
Markers for Pain ResearchTrigeminal Neuralgia is a progress chronic condition. Dysfunctional trigeminal signaling can lead to intense, searing facial pain. It is caused by pressure on the trigeminal nerve. The root causes of the condition are not well understood. Ourpain research markers have been widely used and frequently published through the years and have been important contributors to our growth, Here ' s a recent pub referencing use of one ourP2X3 Antibodies-Momoko Koizumi, Sayaka Asano, Akihiko Furukawa, Yoshinori Hayashi, Suzuro Hitomi, Ikuko Shibuta, Katsuhiko Hayashi, Fusao Kato, Koichi Iwata, and Masamichi...

AI spots neurons better than human experts
(Duke University) A combination of optical coherence tomography (OCT), adaptive optics and deep neural networks can easily and precisely track changes in the number and shape of retinal ganglion cells in the eye. This new AI-driven method can enable better diagnosis and monitoring for neuron-damaging eye and brain diseases like glaucoma. (Source: EurekAlert! - Medicine and Health)

Bilateral visual projections exist in non-teleost bony fish and predate the emergence of tetrapods
In most vertebrates, camera-style eyes contain retinal ganglion cell neurons that project to visual centers on both sides of the brain. However, in fish, ganglion cells were thought to innervate only the contralateral side, suggesting that bilateral visual projections appeared in tetrapods. Here we show that bilateral visual projections exist in non-teleost fishes and that the appearance of ipsilateral projections does not correlate with terrestrial transition or predatory behavior. We also report that the developmental program that specifies visual system laterality differs between fishes and mammals, as the Zic2 transcri...

A ligand-receptor interactome platform for discovery of pain mechanisms and therapeutic targets
In the peripheral nervous system, ligand-receptor interactions between cells and neurons shape sensory experience, including pain. We set out to identify the potential interactions between sensory neurons and peripheral cell types implicated in disease-associated pain. Using mouse and human RNA sequencing datasets and computational analysis, we created interactome maps between dorsal root ganglion (DRG) sensory neurons and an array of normal cell types, as well as colitis-associated glial cells, rheumatoid arthritis–associated synovial macrophages, and pancreatic tumor tissue. These maps revealed a common correlation...
