Revolutionizing decision support: a  systematic literature review of contextual implementation models for electronic health records systems
This study aims to assess previously developed Electronic Health Records System (EHRS) implementation models and identify successful models for decision support.A systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The data sources used were Scopus, PubMed and Google Scholar. The review identified peer-reviewed papers published in the English Language from January 2010 to April 2023, targeting well-defined implementation of EHRS with decision-support capabilities in healthcare. To comprehensively address the research question, we ensured that all potential ...

Sexually transmitted infections, the epidemic that persists after the COVID-19 pandemic: an analysis of the primary care electronic health records covering about 5 million people in Catalonia
CONCLUSIONS: After a significant reduction in 2020, the number of STIs recorded in primary care rapidly rebounded, and the current trend is similar to that of 2019, except for HIV. These findings underscore the dynamic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on STI diagnoses and highlight the importance of ongoing monitoring and public health interventions in the post-pandemic period.PMID:38704552 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02395-4 (Source: Primary Care)

Antibody ‐positive autoimmune encephalitis and paraneoplastic neurological syndrome: A Swedish case series
ConclusionSwedish patients with AE and PNS had similar clinical characteristics as previously described cohorts from other geographical regions except for anti-NMDAR encephalitis, with older onset than expected. The onset of non-tumor-related AE occurred predominantly in the warm seasons, and AE with a more insidious onset was associated with delayed treatment initiation. (Source: Brain and Behavior)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1775: Artificial Intelligence in Urologic Robotic Oncologic Surgery: A Narrative Review
Lazaros Tzelves With the rapid increase in computer processing capacity over the past two decades, machine learning techniques have been applied in many sectors of daily life. Machine learning in therapeutic settings is also gaining popularity. We analysed current studies on machine learning in robotic urologic surgery. We searched PubMed/Medline and Google Scholar up to December 2023. Search terms included “urologic surgery”, “artificial intelligence”, “machine learning”, “neural network”, “au...

Identification and outcomes of KDIGO ‐defined chronic kidney disease in 1.4 million U.S. Veterans with heart failure
ConclusionData needed to define CKD using KDIGO criteria were available in six out of ten patients, and CKD could be defined in seven out of ten patients with data. HF patients with KDIGO-defined CKD had higher risks for poor outcomes, most of which was not explained by abnormal kidney structure or function. Future studies need to examine whether CKD defined using a single eGFR is characteristically and prognostically different from CKD defined using KDIGO criteria. Dermatology Consultation in the Geriatrics Department of a Tertiary Hospital in China: A Retrospective Study of 178 Patients
CONCLUSION: This study summarized the reasons for dermatology consultations for geriatric inpatients and found that dermatitis/eczema and infectious diseases were the common types of diseases consulted. The findings of this study contribute to the enhanced comprehension and management of dermatological conditions in hospitalized patients by geriatricians, as well as facilitating more efficient diagnosis and treatment by dermatologists.PMID:38699408 | PMC:PMC11063470 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S461156 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)
