Ortho residents: laptop?
Current ortho residents, how often do you find yourself using a laptop to work on patient cases? I’m looking into buying a laptop for residency, do you think a M1 air would be sufficient enough to run necessary software? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

OMFS Fellowship Match statistics?
I understand this question is geared toward a small audience and may not get an answer here. Any info on how match percentages for OMFS H&N fellowships? Can’t find any hard data on the AACMFS page. Also, any advice on matching into one? At a program with minimal research activity, educational guidance or extracurricular community involvement available to participate in. Aka, pretty difficult to beef up a resume. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Perio Prosth
When a dentist finishes a Perio-Prosth program, how exactly do they practice? All clinicians, no matter how talented, must perform procedures on a regular basis to remain proficient. For perio-proth dual specialists, I feel like portions of their skillset will eventually atrophy because there are only so many hours in a day and there are only so many procedures that a dentist can perform on a regular basis. Medical License for 4+MD option programs
How does medical licensing work for 4-year OMFS programs that offer an MD option after training? Is it different by program/medical school, or do I have to go through at least 1 more year of general surgery after medical school to obtain a medical license? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CA Boards Licensing Delay
Hi everyone! I recently moved to CA from NY after practicing as a GP for 5~6 years. I sent all my forms for my CA license (I applied by "Licensure by Credentials") 12/28/23. They reached out numerous times with a "missing" form each time--I kept sending them whatever they requested each time but they never confirm if they received anything and they don't call back or even respond to their emails much... 1 of them did call me and said I have up until 1 year (😱!!) to submit whatever forms... Prosthodontics residency with a focus on digital dentistry, esthetics, and Impalnt
Hello everyone I wanted to know which Prostho programs focus more on digital aspect of the treatment, esthetic treatments and Impalnt dentistry? I know Prostho has a really wide field of knowledge, and when I see pass, most of the programs focus on removable prosthetics. I’m more interested in the digital area, milling and 3D printing. Any input are welcome. Thanks in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Change to HPSP payback?
So…I heard they made some big changes to the HPSP payback for those that went active duty after October 2020. I heard that you have to do your 4 year payback as would be expected. But rather than 4 years in the IRR afterwards, you are required to do another 2 years active duty or 2 years in the active reserve, and then 2 years in the IRR. Can anyone confirm this? Greatest breadth of knowledge in dentistry - OMFS?
I'm a sucker for knowledge. I love the fact that there is so much to learn in dentistry that one can practically never reach the point where there is nothing left to learn. In your view, what would be the specialty in which there is the most potential things to learn? What has the broadest range of topics? Is it OMFS? Or is it something else? That is a small reason for me to gravitate towards it. Even the fact that OMFS requires the CBSE is kinda cool. Despite me currently contending... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thinking About Dentistry Instead of Respiratory Therapy:
I am a 26-year-old Community College student who is thinking about becoming a Respiratory Therapist. However, recently I have been considering Dentistry after taking this career aptitude assessment called You Science through my college's career services office. The assessment showed that I have a strong aptitude for Orthodontics and Prosthodontics. I know this would take 4 years of undergrad along with 4 years of dental school and then another graduate program for either Orthodontics or... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
