Ohio (OOS) vs Tufts (OOS)
Hi guys! Im currently debating between the two. Any help would be MUCH appreciated Im from Canada, so I don't know much about American universities. OSU pros: cheaper tuition, two hours drive closer to home (Canada), and seems like there are more scholarships available! (have not received anything yet). Cons: safety concerns living in the city, non 24/7 ER, no shelter medicine program or wildlife program or exotics to my knowledge. Is dentistry in their curriculum?? Tufts pros... Failed DSO purchase
A local DSO is putting a portfolio of 50 practices together to sell to private equity. One large 4000sf practice with 6 ops didn’t make the cut. They had trouble staffing it wi the a doctor and as a result it only produced ~500k the last 3 years. When I started my search I wasn’t considering something like this but at 375k it would cost me less than startup. The office is built out well. Conventional wisdom says not to buy a failing practice but in this case, if I’m working the practice... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dental Assistant in undergrad?
Hello, I was curious if it was possible to work as a dental Assistant as an undergrad to increase your chances of being accepted into dental school. I'm a freshman and college and was also interested if dentistry is still a good field to enter. I will possibly enter dentistry 10+ years from now. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does med student "away" logic apply to externships?
Read this online: "People don’t realize that very few people actually match at their aways. You have to have every single person like you—residents and attendings—every single moment. Unless you’re a universally liked person like a Tom Hanks or Betty White, that’s almost impossible to do. One bad comment and you’re sunk. Most often they will choose that perfect person on paper over the imperfect person they got to know over the month." and people saying that when youre on an away the... Why would a 4 year OMFS program switch to a 6 year track and vice versa?
How and why would/does this happen? I have seen a few examples going both ways while researching programs. Could this be a red flag for a program? Random thought. Appreciate any input! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any Canadian dentist working in Canada or Australia after completing a 5-year Australian BDS?
Not sure if this is allowed, but I can’t find a megathread or a post similar to this. I’m Canadian and looking into dental schools abroad (particularly in Australia). Just wondering if anyone here is Canadian and graduated with a 5-year BDS (or know people who did) and is working in Canada/Australia? Thanks in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Need Opinions: To Separate or Not to Separate? (Civilian vs Military Residency)
I am currently finishing my last year of payback for my military scholarship. I am at a vital point in my life where I have two roads I could take. If I was younger and applied to OMFS immediately after dental school into military, then that is a given path. However, I didn't do that route and stuck with general dentistry during my active duty time (then later, I grew a fascination with the OR, face recon, etc... that's another story). Now, I am finally near separation with the future... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
