Primary intraarterial occlusive lipoma
Pathol Res Pract. 2023 May 10;246:154533. doi: 10.1016/j.prp.2023.154533. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLipomas are the most frequent soft tissue tumors. Intravenous lipomas are very uncommon, but even more unusual are intraarterial lipomas. A 68-year-old heavy smoker man, with chronic alcoholism, retinopathy, dyslipidemia, and a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus of more than 10 years of evolution was hospitalized in a state of dependency. He presented ulcers on both heels and right foot sole extending to the fifth metatarsal base and bedsores in the iliac and sacral regions. Ulcer cultures showed growth of Klebsiella pn...

Regenerative potential of the sural neuroadipofascial flap in the treatment of chronic ulcers of the lower third of the leg
CONCLUSIONS: The neuroadipofascial sural flap is versatile, fast, and easy-to-perform to cover a chronic defect in the distal part of the lower limb, including both the malleoli and the heel, due to its long vascular pedicle. Consistent with the studies carried out in other districts, the present study confirms the remarkable regenerative power of the vascularized adipose tissue at the level of complex wounds of the lower third of the leg.PMID:37129331 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_31317 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

1456 Topical lyophilized human adipose-derived mesenchymal exosomes in skin wounds: A case series
It is difficult to treat wounds in the elderly. A topical product containing lyophilized human adipose-derived mesenchymal exosomes, with a separate diluent containing growth factors and amino acids, is used on three patients. The 1st case is an 86 year-old, bedridden with hypertension, end-stage renal disease and painful bed sores of 3 days' duration. Monotherapy with the reconstituted topical exosomes gel was applied 3x a day. In less than 12 hours, she stopped experiencing any discomfort from the sores. 1479 The cutaneous ischemia-reperfusion injury-induced pressure ulcer was attenuated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis mice model via decreased nerve neurons and neuro peptides resulting in suppressing oxidative stress
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, paralytic disorder characterized by degeneration of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. A tendency not to develop bedsores is known as one of the negative symptoms of ALS. However, the precise its mechanism was still unclear. We aimed to investigate the clinical question of why bedsores are less likely to occur in ALS patients by basic experiments using mouse model. Cutaneous ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury model using magnets were performed in ALS model mice (SOD1-G93A) and wild-type (WT) mice, and the size of skin ulcers after I/R injury was measured between...

Hourglass appearance in cystocele with an impacted vesical calculus
Manickam Ramalingam, Senthil Kallappan, MN JananiIndian Journal of Urology 2023 39(2):163-164A 62-year-old hypertensive female presented with a mass protruding from the vagina for the past 20 years. She complained of dysuria and urinary incontinence for the past 3 months. There was no history of surgical intervention in the past. The examination revealed a tender irreducible total uterine prolapse (procidentia) and cystocele with a decubitus ulcer. Computed tomography urogram showed a total uterine prolapse along with the prolapse of a part of urinary bladder, with a vesical calculus of size 2.8 cm × 2.7 cm in ...

Successful use of amoxicillin-clavulanate acid in a patient with severe wound infection with wound communication secondary to Actinomyces
CONCLUSIONS: The outcomes in this case support the use of surgical debridement, meticulous wound care, and appropriate antibiotic coverage to achieve accelerated wound healing of sacral PI with actinomycotic involvement.PMID:36897620 (Source: Wounds)

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 4911: An Integrated System of Braden Scale and Random Forest Using Real-Time Diagnoses to Predict When Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries (Bedsores) Occur
Conclusion: Identifying when the patient is likely to develop HAPI can target early intervention when it is needed most and reduces unnecessary burden on patients and care teams when patients are at lower risk, which further individualizes the plan of care. Pressure Ulcer Trends in the United States: A Cross-Sectional Assessment from 2008-2019
CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis suggests the prevalence of decubitus ulcers remained stable during the time period, with increased severity but reduced frequency of operative intervention.PMID:36825400 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231158691 (Source: The American Surgeon)
