Pressure Ulcer Trends in the United States: A Cross-Sectional Assessment from 2008-2019
CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis suggests the prevalence of decubitus ulcers remained stable during the time period, with increased severity but reduced frequency of operative intervention.PMID:36825400 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231158691 (Source: The American Surgeon)

Fournier ’s Gangrene with Growth of Actinomyces europaeus: A Case Report
We report a case of a 61-year-old female with type 2 diabetes who developed FG caused byActinomyces  europaeus.A.  europaeus is associated with abscesses, decubitus ulcers, and purulent urethritis. AlthoughA.  europaeus rarely causes FG as the main causative pathogen, we should still be alert to this pathogenic microorganism. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of FG caused byA.  europaeus mono-infection, and it adds to the evidence thatA.  europaeus has the potential to cause necrotizing fasciitis. Fracture liaison services combined with online home nursing care in fragility hip fracture: a comparative effectiveness pilot study
ConclusionsWe recommend the combination of FLS with online home nursing care, considering the local environment, to economically and conveniently monitor patients, reduce falls and refractures, and improve care and medication adherence. (Source: Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery)

COVID-19 and Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS: This review identified that HAPI incidence was high among men who were COVID-19 positive, had longer hospital stays, experienced prone positioning, and had care teams without a skin and wound care expert. Future research should employ more robust methodology and focus on quantitative modeling to iteratively improve in-patient HAPI guidelines.PMID:36705972 | DOI:10.1097/01.ASW.0000919408.20614.61 (Source: Adv Data)

Fatal Clostridium sporogenes soft tissue polymicrobial infections in two immunocompetent cases: Case Reports
CONCLUSION: C. sporogenes had usually been reported after trauma particularly after penetrating and deep wound infection. More attention should be given to these patients so that the infection can be treated and diagnosed early in suspected anaerobic infections like Clostridium species.PMID:36635903 | DOI:10.2174/1871526523666230112161134 (Source: Infectious Disorders Drug Targets)
