Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 2872: Essential Oils Distilled from Colombian Aromatic Plants and Their Constituents as Penetration Enhancers for Transdermal Drug Delivery
obar The study aimed to determine the enhanced effects of essential oils (EOs) and plant-derived molecules (PDMs) as penetration enhancers (PEs) for transdermal drug delivery (TDD) of caffeine. A 1% w/w solution of eight EOs and seven PDMs was included in the 1% caffeine carbopol hydrogel. Franz diffusion cell experiments were performed using mice with full-thickness skin. At various times over 24 h, 300 μL of the receptor were withdrawn and replaced with fresh medium. Caffeine was analyzed spectrophotometrically at 272 nm. The skin irritation effects of the hydrogels applied once a day for 21 days were inve...

Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 2066: Hydrogen/Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry for Probing the Isomeric Forms of Oleocanthal and Oleacin in Extra Virgin Olive Oils
R. I. Cataldi Reversed-phase liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization with Fourier-transform single and tandem mass spectrometry (RPLC-ESI-FTMS and FTMS/MS) were employed for the structural characterization of oleocanthal (OLEO) and oleacin (OLEA), two of the most important bioactive secoiridoids occurring in extra virgin olive oils (EVOOs). The existence of several isoforms of OLEO and OLEA was inferred from the chromatographic separation, accompanied, in the case of OLEA, by minor peaks due to oxidized OLEO recognized as oleocanthalic acid isoforms. The detailed analysis of the product ion tandem MS spectra ...

Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy After Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy: Definitive Results with a Long-Term Follow-Up Evaluation
CONCLUSIONS: The study data definitively confirm that NSM is safe even after NACT, with good cosmetic results and complications comparable with those in the primary surgery setting. Tumor stage and age were the only independent factors for local relapse. Patients with pCR enjoyed optimal locoregional control.PMID:36598627 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-022-13035-5 (Source: Cancer Control)

Reduced platelet glycoprotein Ib α shedding accelerates thrombopoiesis and COX-1 recovery: implications for aspirin dosing regimen
Haematologica. 2022 Dec 22. doi: 10.3324/haematol.2022.281006. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCardiovascular prevention with low-dose aspirin can be less effective in patients with a faster recovery of platelet cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 activity during the 24 hours dosing interval. We previously showed that incomplete suppression of TXA2 over 24 hours can be rescued by a twice daily aspirin regimen. Here we show that reduced platelet glycoprotein (GP)Ibα shedding characterizes patients with accelerated COX-1 recovery and may contribute to higher thrombopoietin production and higher rates of newly-formed platelets, escaping as...
