Expression of CCL2 signaling pathway genes in patients with periodontitis and atherosclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that the CCL4/CCR5/c-Jun and c-Fos/CCL2 pathways may be involved in CCL2 expression in periodontitis. CCL4, CCR5, and CCL2 might act as possible nodes to link the presence of periodontitis and atherosclerosis.PMID:38721911 | DOI:10.14670/HH-18-754 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Influence of prior myocardial infarction on outcome in patients with ischaemic HFrEF: insights from the EVIdence based TreAtment in Heart Failure (EVITA-HF) registry
CONCLUSION: pMI in patients with CHF and ischaemic HFrEF was associated with increased mortality, increased event rates, and worsened health status. Hence, the subgroup of pts with ischaemic HFrEF and pMI is at higher risk and deserves special attention.PMID:38717480 | DOI:10.1007/s00392-024-02455-w (Source: Clin Med Res)

A Prospective Study on Activities of Daily Living, Comfort, Body Image, and Cardiac Symptoms in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients
A coronary artery bypass graft procedure reduces mortality for cardiovascular patients, but those undergoing it often face negative body perception, loss of daily activities, and lingering symptoms, hindering full functional recovery and comfort. (Source: Pain Management Nursing)

Inadvertent Suturing of a Left Internal Jugular Vein Catheter into the Innominate Vein during Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery
Inserting a central venous catheter (CVC) into either the right or left internal jugular vein is a routine procedure for a myriad of cardiac cases, such as coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve replacements, and the like. It is mainly used to administer medications, fluids, and blood products, as well as hemodynamic monitoring. As with any procedure, complications may occur. Some common complications include; catheter-related bloodstream infections, thrombosis, hemothorax, pneumothorax, fracture of the catheter, arterial puncture, nerve injury, malposition or migration, air embolism, and/or hemorrhage. Single coronary artery with aortic valve replacement followed by aortic root replacement due to endocarditis: A case report
Key Clinical MessageA woman with a single coronary artery underwent aortic valve replacement due to aortic stenosis. Two years later, she developed an aortic annular abscess around the right coronary cusp and non-coronary cusp. Significant adhesions to the right coronary artery (RCA) resulted from the abscess, making artery separation challenging, and raising concerns about potential future RCA stenosis. The patient subsequently underwent aortic root replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting. Utilizing a freestyle valve and a saphenous vein graft for the RCA. Following the procedure, the patient was discharged and ha...
