Pharmacists who take forever to get set up?
Is it me or is it a generational thing? I'm working overnights right now. I usually start working on checking the carts around 530AM, and the first day shift pharmacist usually arrives at 6AM. But they don't sit down and start working till like 630AM. The first thing she does is go to the locker room and break room and put away her jacket and lunch (understandable), but then she goes to look at the schedule for 5 minutes, then she goes to her seat and computer and proceeds to wipe everything... Professor not allowing me to make up exam
Exam is worth 15% of course grade. The exam was on proctor u, and is in a pre-req science course. I had logged into proctor u normally and did a system check, and my computer and internet connection passed the check. However, when it came to opening the proctor chat box, I got a blank box. Although a proctor was connected, I cannot communicate with the proctor as I cannot see the messages because the proctor chat box wasn't working. I was talking with customer service trying to resolve the... Professor not allowing me to make up exam (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PhD in computer science?
Hey all. I am currently a sophomore and pursuing a BS in Computer Science with minors in biology and chemistry. I realized when I was a biology major last year that I wasn't entirely loving it and found computer science to be fascinating. I also love medicine, and this has been reaffirmed with 1500 hours as a medical scribe in the Emergency Department and volunteer hours. I want to do the MD/PhD route, but I'm not sure if it's even possible or allowed. I would like to get my PhD in... PhD in computer science? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Making requests for days off on holidays - is it awful?
Our group has a policy of not requesting holidays off unless there’s some extenuating circumstance so that holidays can get divided up fairly...but there are people who do it, anyway. Some put in requests for ALL holidays off. Some people have even done it when they’re brand new (and should expect to work more holidays because they don’t have seniority). So technically when the computer generates the schedule they’ll be granted those days off (of course we schedulers can change it, but it’s... Making requests for days off on holidays - is it awful? NeuraLink to spy on pre-med's thoughts good for society? (Medical Ethics)
With the recent announcement from Elon Musk that NeuraLink's brain computer interface is operational, it is now possible for implanted people's thoughts to be remotely monitored--"telepathic" surveillance, in other words. As a thought experiment, do you think that ADCOMMs should partner with NeuraLink to implant pre-med students with this device to assess them as candidates? If so, do you think that ADCOMMs should have to gain... NeuraLink to spy on pre-med's thoughts good for society? (Medical Ethics) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nbeo
I am starting my 3rd year in Optometry. What are NBEO board exams like? I know there are 3 parts... What's the difference between them? Which part is the most difficult? What did you use to study? I've heard about KMK... is it worth it? Also, are you able to share the course on 2 different computers? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Volunteering - Crisis Text Line?
Hey all, I was counting my volunteering hours and was wondering whether I should include volunteering through Crisis Text Line. Crisis Text Line is online volunteering done on your computer in the comfort of your own home, but I believe that it truly valuable as it reaches out to and helps individuals. Without counting the text line hours, I will have approximately 150 volunteer hours. However, if I do count these hours, I will have around 350 hours, so I would love to include these... Change my mind: Medicine can be automated in 10 years
Recently, there's been a lot talk about Andrew Yang and his policies regarding physicians on the Reddit form. He says that computers could easily automate all of medicine, and his supporters state all we do as Drs is memorize symptoms and do the basic procedures over again, I didn't think so at first, but then I had a friend on IT tell me like 10 reasons otherwise. Do any wise physicians/students have good counter arguments for this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PSA: Believe in your Personal Statement. [meme]
For all of you computer gamers, do not be afraid to show where real inspiration comes from. In the unlikeliest of places I found mine: as support medic in my favorite first-person shooter games. Just got a top 10 II, so to celebrate here is my Personal Statement: Let it inspire you. It was right in there between fighting the virtual enemy and aiding my Discord friends that I realized medicine was right for me. My finger was locked on the CTRL key waiting for the right moment to... PSA: Believe in your Personal Statement. [meme] (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Asutype technical support?
Hoping someone might have some suggestions with asutype, which has been a godsend and has made AHLTA somewhat bearable but suddenly it won't insert shortcuts into AHLTA (I'm guessing as a result of some system update). Asutype is an approved application to use with AHLTA but none of my local IT crew want to take any ownership of it and no one has any reason why it won't work with AHLTA this morning (multiple restarts of the programs and the computers). Hoping an AHLTA poweruser here might... Asutype technical support? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
